Charlie heads to Haydock on Thursday for his best bet
It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
4:25pm Haydock - Hoseki (Nap)
HOSEKI (Nap) was forced to cover ground but was ultimately disappointing when fourth at Ascot over 12f last time, although that slowly run race was not run to suit.
The William Haggas-trained filly had won her three starts prior to that Shergar Cup defeat - when ridden by Saffie Osborne - and Tom Marquand returns to the plate this afternoon. The hat-trick of successes was gained on ground ranging from good to good to firm, and she is unproven on soft ground.
She drops back in trip to ten furlongs today in this seven-runner field, which is a surprise given nineteen were entered at the six-day stage. Her draw in stall six is of no significance, and I hope to see Marquand go forward on the three-year-old if they don't go a decent gallop. Connections look to have found an excellent opportunity to gain a fourth career success.

4:14pm Salisbury - Nuit D’eclair
The feature race at Salisbury is the Group 3 Dick Poole Stakes, and it would be no surprise to see Albany fourth Dark Issue bounce back having disappointed in the ridiculously named Princess Margaret Japan Cup Stakes at Ascot last time when she finished over 5l behind NUIT D’ECLAIR, who finished fourth – beaten just a length - but would have gone even closer had she got a trouble-free passage.
Trained by Kevin Philippart de Foy for Amo Racing, the filly was then second in the 7f Sweet Solera when she led at the distance but was outstayed and went down by half a length. The return to this stiff 6f will suit, although the imponderable is the ground described as good to soft – soft in places – with the possibility of up to 3mm of rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
After such a dry summer, few in the field have form on slow ground, although Miss Kodi – who heads the market – finished fourth in the Lowther on ground described as good to soft, although the winning time suggests it was good ground. Nuit D’eclair finished in front of the market leader at Ascot, and there seems no reason why she should reverse the form on similar terms, although underfoot conditions will be different and, arguably, the key.
Hills were the only firm with odds at the time of writing; their 11/4 quote looked about right although I was surprised to see Miss Kodi backed into 2/1.
Recommendation: Nuit D’eclair - 11/4 with William Hill
