Charlie McCann’s Horse Racing Tips For Wednesday, 3 June - Nottingham, Newton Abbot & Warwick
Charlie heads to Newton Abbot on Wednesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.com.
4:48pm Nottingham - That Darn Cantor
Barbury Boy looked a non-stayer over 12f last time and will appreciate the return to the same distance of his Beverley success on his penultimate start when he beat a dual subsequent winner from a 9lbs lower mark.
Tom Marquand takes over in the plate on the selection who must go close, but there are three well-bred sorts making their handicap debuts, and preference is for THAT DARN CANTOR, who has been gelded since being beaten just over three lengths in a Yarmouth maiden over a mile at the end of April.
This step up to 10f will suit, given he was doing all his best work late on at Yarmouth, Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle, and Ed Dunlop will be keen to get a win for the family. The dam – Capricious Cantor – was listed placed for Dunlop but connections have yet to see her progeny win a race. That Darn Cantor is her fifth foal.
Mr Bollinger is a half-brother to two winners, and he, too, has shaped with promise, especially over this 10f trip at Lingfield on his penultimate start. The market should provide valuable clues as to stable expectations about the unexposed Dunlop and Michael Bell geldings.
Recommendation: That Darn Cantor - 4/1 with bet365
5:00pm Newton Abbot - Westerton (Nap)
They had 14mm of rain overnight Monday, but the course still decided to water yesterday, although there was further rain forecast – up to 8mm – Tuesday, and there is also the possibility of 4mm of rain on raceday. There will certainly be no firm in the official description, although it could easily have good to soft places.
Sean Bowen is a positive booking for Marhaba The Champ, and he is very well treated on his flat form for what is his handicap debut over timber. He refused to race on the flat last time, however, and is best watched despite the presence of the champion jockey.
WESTERTON (Nap) is another well handicapped over hurdles on his best flat form for Alan King and ran a terrific race on just his second start for Jennie Candlish when runner-up at Warwick. He was beaten less than a length, having blundered at the last, although he has been raised 5lbs for what was a career best over timber.
The 5lbs is largely negated by the 3lbs claim of conditional Lewis Stones, who takes over this afternoon. He coped with soft ground on the level, although his sole win came on fast ground at Sandown when he beat the subsequent Melrose/dual Grade 3 winner Middle Earth off level weights.
The grey Lord Cauvelliere won his sole point and made a winning debut under rules when landing a Stratford Bumper last May. He ran his best race yet over hurdles when fourth – returning from a lengthy absence – at Ludlow last month, and he has been dropped 1lb for that 5l defeat. He is considered the chief threat.
Recommendation: Westerton (Nap) - 9/4 with bet365
9:00pm Warwick - Royal Deeside
Warwick applied 50mm of water to the track last week and 10mm on Monday before getting 20mm overnight into Tuesday. With showers forecast for raceday, conditions are likely to be on the easy side of good for this evening's card.
Theonlywayiswessex ran an excellent race over course and distance a month ago when travelling strongly but unable to get past the well ridden Full Force Gale. He can race from the same mark as last time and is entitled to come on for what was his first start in 256 days.
If you look at the form figures for the five who go to post in the finale, you will see they are largely consistent but hardly serial winners, including ROYAL DEESIDE, who continues to run well in defeat. You jump seventeen fences over 2m4f at Warwick – unlikely to be any low sun issues – and the selection is a fast, fluent jumper, and I hope Charlie Maggs can save a bit of petrol for the last couple of fences in the short home straight.
I would not want to see the word soft in the official going description, and I will only support the six-year-old when I have seen the times from the first couple of races. Both career wins for the selection have been on good ground over two-and-a-half miles, but significant further rain would be a negative.
Recommendation: Royal Deeside - 15/8 with bet365
