Leopardstown Tips - Dublin Racing Festival Monday
I've taken a look at the key races below and with each tip you'll see odds from the best betting sites too, so you can see what prices are currently available on them all.
Leopardstown 1:15pm - Love Me Tender (EW)
A good novice hurdle to start us off, and a Grade One contest. You'd expect a few of these will be heading over the Cheltenham in March.
At an each way price, I think Love Me Tender has a chance of going well here, up in trip quite a lot, but to me, has been crying out for that, and I think it'll see him really take a step forward.
He needs to brush up his jumping, but this longer trip and slightly slower tempo will help with that. Heading towards 10/1 at the time of writing, I think he's a shout of the frame, at least.
Leopardstown 2:55pm - Kargese
This is one of those horse racing tips where it's as much as vote for Kargese as it is a negative for Romeo Coolio.
I actually wouldn't mind Romeo Coolio making me look silly here, cos I'd love him to be a genuine Arkle hope, but I just don't think two miles sees the best in him.
Kargese sets a really strong standard, and is a natural two miler. Three runners, they shouldn't go quick, and I can just see Romeo Coolio being caught for pace at a crucial time as the end approaches.
I like the horse, a lot, but over two miles, I think Kargese offers value.
Leopardstown 3:30pm - Galopin Des Champs
A race for the ages, and I hope it lives up to the billing. If this turns out as well as it does in my head, it'll be better than the Gold Cup at Cheltenham.
As for the winner, for years, we've seen the absolute best of Galopin Des Champs at this course, and at this meeting, and he's the pick for that reason.
He's plenty short enough in the betting, but I have to keep the faith. The weather conditions should turn this into enough of a slog to be right up his street, and it will inconvenience many of the others.
Let's hope the race is as good as it looks, and I would love nothing more than Galopin Des Champs to come out on top.
