Brighton vs Leeds Predictions, Tips & Latest Odds
Will Jackson
Brighton will be looking to get back on track in the Premier League this weekend, as they host newly-promoted Leeds at the American Express Stadium.
It's back-to-back defeats for Fabian Hurzeler's side in the league and Carabao Cup midweek, but after playing Manchester United and Arsenal, they have their eyes set on a winnable three points against Daniel Farke's Leeds.
The Whites got an important win of their own last week to keep themselves in midtable, but head to the south coast as second favourites with sports betting sites ahead of the game.
Brighton vs Leeds Tips
Here are our top three betting tips ahead of Brighton vs Leeds.
Tip 1: Brighton win to nil - 12/5
This Brighton side probably isn't quite as strong as previous iterations, but you still have to fancy them this week against a plucky Leeds team.
Prior to their back-to-back defeats, they had beaten Manchester City, Newcastle and Chelsea this season, so they are certainly a force to be reckoned with.
They've actually had a very tough start to the season, with games against Bournemouth and Tottenham also in there - and that would explain why they are 13th in the Premier League at this stage of the season.
They did draw to Wolves which was two points dropped, but I don't think that's enough reason for optimism for Leeds who have done well so far this season, but they really struggle to create chances in open play.
They have scored just three away goals this season, and they all came in a 3-1 at Wolves so I think we will see a comfortable Seagulls win.
Tip 2: Danny Welbeck first goalscorer - 6/1
The evergreen Danny Welbeck has been in fine form this season, scoring five in his last four Premier League matches and leading the line for Brighton.
Those goals have come against Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea, and he is oozing confidence in front of goal.
They don't really have many other goalscoring options. Georginio Rutter isn't a natural in front of goal and no one else has scored more than one so far this season, so the workload falls heavily on Welbeck.
Tip 3: Brighton win, 3.5+ match cards, Bijol booking - 18/1
You would not normally associate Brighton with being a physical team, but that's exactly what they have been this season.
They top the league for yellow cards shown and have made the third-most fouls per game with an average of 12.7, while Leeds are down in 13th place - probably the other way round to what you would expect.
In spite of that, I do look at new centre-back Jaka Bijol as a potential sending off candidate this season.
That's nothing to do with his ability as a defender really, I just think he is a bit slow off the mark and with the likes of Welbeck and Rutter running at him, and the pace at which Brighton can play, I think he might be caught in possession once or twice and be forced to take a card.
With Brighton's disciplinary record and Bijol a potential danger with the match-ups in this game, I think we might see a few cards shown throughout.
