Coventry City vs Middlesbrough Tips, Bet Builder Prediction & Odds

Coventry and Middlesbrough meet at the CBS Arena in a huge match at the top of the Championship on Monday evening.
Frank Lampard’s men were seemingly coasting towards the Championship crown with a 10-point lead in November, but Boro have surged back and surpassed the Sky Blues to reach the second tier summit.
A victory for either side could be defining in the race for promotion, especially with Millwall and Ipswich lurking behind in the play-off places.
It promises to be one of the matches of the season in the Championship.

Tip 1: Middlesbrough To Win & Over 2.5 Goals
When these sides met at the Riverside Stadium earlier this season, the Sky Blues were at the peak of their powers in front of goal and duly crushed the hosts 4-2 with an outstanding performance, cementing their credentials as the team to beat in the second tier.
Boro boss Kim Hellberg was watching from the stands on that occasion after being appointed as Rob Edwards’ replacement mere hours beforehand. The Swede has made a huge impact in the Championship promotion race.
Boro were already competitive under Edwards before his departure to Wolves in November, but Hellberg has taken the team to a new level with incisive play in the final third, bringing out the best in Morgan Whittaker and Tommy Conway, who are backed up by a combative midfield led by Hayden Hackney.
They enter the game full of confidence on the back of a six-match winning run, including a 2-1 win over Sheffield United last time out. Coventry, on the other hand, are soul-searching. Lampard’s men look a long way from the team that was so dominant early in the campaign.Â
The goals have dried up, and since the turn of the year, the Sky Blues have won only two of their last seven.
Their away form has been mostly responsible for their downturn, but Ipswich’s win at the CBS Arena highlighted deficiencies against top teams. I’m expecting Boro to edge to a seventh-straight win with a good price available on football betting sites.
Tip 2: Tommy Conway To Score Anytime
Boro’s surge to the Championship summit has been due to their efficiency in the final third. Conway’s form has played a huge factor, scoring important goals in wins over Sheffield United, Preston and Stoke over the last month.
Last season under Michael Carrick, Boro paid the price for their struggles in front of goal, often enjoying plenty of possession but lacking the clinical edge. This term, Conway and Whittaker have found their form and Hellberg is reaping the rewards.
Conway has registered at least one effort on target in eight of his last nine league games, and there is a solid price of 4/5 available on sports betting sites for him to do so again.
But, I’m going bolder for the Scotland international to score anytime against a Coventry defence that has only kept one clean sheet in their last eight Championship games.
Tip 3: BTTS, Tommy Conway Over 0.5 Shots On Target & Josh Eccles To Be Shown a Card
For our bet builder, I’m going to combine elements of the previous picks along with a player card at the CBS Arena to round out our football tips.
I went for over 2.5 goals for our first pick, which opens the door for both teams to score without needing to land to win our bet. However, we can’t overlook the 4/7 price to start our bet builder for two good attacking teams to score. It has landed in 61% of Coventry’s games this season and over half of Boro’s.
I can’t overlook the price on Conway having a shot on target. It’s 7/10 as part of our bet builder, but you can get the 4/5 price with BetMGM for a single bet.
Finally, I’m expecting a tense battle in the middle of the park with Hackney, Aiden Morris and Alan Browne battling Josh Eccles, Victor Torp and Matt Grimes. Eccles has been booked in two of his last three and seems the strongest candidate to get a card.
