EFL Tips: 27/1 Longshot Acca
Here are Gab's five tips for the weekend along with the best prices and latest odds from our top sports betting sites.
Bristol City vs West Brom - West Brom to win
West Brom have displayed signs of life under caretaker James Morrison.
After a 2-1 loss at Oxford in his first game in interim charge, the Baggies have taken five points from their last three, against Play-Off contenders Sheffield United, Southampton and Hull.
The West Midlanders have renewed fight about them, they have a bit more balance, and that 3-0 victory over the 5th-placed Tigers last weekend will have done wonders for belief, going into the run in.
Danny Imray won man-of-the-match for his dribbling ability at right-back, Nat Phillips was imperious in central defence, while physical, industrious striker Aune Heggebo looks capable of enjoying a run similar to the one he had across November and December, when he scored seven goals in seven.
Hosts Bristol City are out of the Play-Off equation, and have taken a mere five points from their last seven league games.
Lincoln vs Rotherham - Lincoln to win
Lincoln’s 2-2 draw at Huddersfield in midweek, as Michael Skubala’s side fought back from two down to salvage a point, means they stay 15 clear of third-placed Bolton, who also failed to win, with eight games to play.
As such, the energetic Imps need only 10 more points from their remaining eight games to mathematically rubber-stamp automatic promotion, and the job could be completed as early as Good Friday.
The leaders have used their squad so well at the crucial stage, with Tom Bayliss, Ryan One, Reeco Hackett and Ryley Towler all making significant contributions from the bench in midweek.
With that in mind, work is cut out for strugglers Rotherham United, and new manager Lee Clark, who takes charge for the first time this weekend following his controversial appointment.
The former Newcastle and Fulham midfielder has worked in the Championship with Birmingham, but he hasn’t managed for three years, and hasn’t managed in England for six since relegation with Blyth Spartans in 2020.
Wigan vs Exeter - Wigan to win
The form of Wigan and Exeter, since Gary Caldwell left the latter to join the former, speaks to his managerial capabilities.
The Scot stabilized the Grecians in League One’s midtable, as a fan-owned club, for four years, and maybe didn’t get the credit he deserved for that work given the less than glamorous nature of the job.
But since he’s gone, City have slipped into the mire with three points from eight, while his new club have accrued 11 points from his seven games in charge, a return that’s lifted them out of the relegation zone.
The Latics were seconds away from pulling even closer to safety in midweek, but for an injury-time equalizer from Barnsley, but the form of forwards Caylan Vickers and Joe Taylor is there for all to see.
The table might have Exeter above Wigan on goal difference, but in reality the hosts are clear favourites.
Grimsby vs Barrow - Grimsby to win
With just two defeats in their last 16, Grimsby are one of League Two’s form sides of 2026.
Their resurgence, after a November and December of falling on the wrong side of fine margins, has been catalysed by the form of goalkeeper Jackson Smith, who arrived on an emergency loan from Barnsley shortly before the window.
Maldini Kacurri, meanwhile, has settled in superbly next to Cameron McJannet and looks a valuable asset for the Mariners, while striker Andy Cook has brought firepower up top, to take some of the weight off Jaze Kabia.
Town are a fantastic footballing side, and they should stamp their superiority against Barrow, who are bottom of the table, and on their fourth manager since December.
With just two wins to their name in their last 24 league games, the Bluebirds are starring down the barrel at non-league.
Bromley vs Colchester - Bromley to win
After a period of five draws in six, Bromley have kept their win tally ticking over in the last two games, with successive 1-0 victories over strugglers Bristol Rovers and Newport.
Corey Whitely’s late strike at Rodney Parade in midweek means the Ravens are now 20 games unbeaten, and their habit of drawing games when they drop points has been key to ensuring that those drier runs have never taken them too far off course.
Andy Woodman’s side have an unmistakable ability to make their opponents worse, through being a fantastic out-of-possession side, which means that when they don’t play as well as they can, they’re often still able to churn out points very reliably.
There’s a real humility, togetherness and camaraderie about the South Londoners, who are on a kind run of fixtures, with Colchester, Barrow, Barnet and Shrewsbury to play, between now and crunch clashes with MK Dons, Cambridge and Salford, before their final day hosting of Walsall.
Crucially, they seem to have found a way of getting results without talisman Michael Cheek, and having some flexibility in the line-up definitely helps keep things fresh at the business end.
Whereas, visitors Colchester have possibly been too reliant on key men, and it means they find themselves six points shy of the Play-Offs going into the business end, with form not on their side.
