EFL Tips: 375/1 Longshot Acca
Here are Gab's five for the weekend along with the best prices and latest odds from our top sports betting sites.
Portsmouth v Sheffield United - Portsmouth to Win
Portsmouth have enjoyed an excellent winter period.
John Mousinho’s side have taken a respectable 16 points from their last eight games, top-10 form across a full season, helped by the January additions of Ebou Adams and Millenic Alli.
Pompey have rediscovered that Fortress Fratton factor, too, winning four of their last seven home games, and should be ready to pull off a few more scalps between now and the end of the season.
Visitors Sheffield United, on the other hand, are approaching must-win territory in terms of staying in the Play-Off conversation; the eight-point gap between themselves and the Play-Offs is bridgeable, but there’s also 10 teams between themselves and the top six, so Chris Wilder’s side have to get their skates on.
Bradford City v Peterborough United - Peterborough to Win
Play-Off incumbents Bradford are five points better off than outsiders Peterborough, with two games in hand on them, but that’s largely because of form in the first three months of the season.
Since Luke Williams took charge of the Posh on 29th October, only the division’s top two have accrued more points than his side.
Whereas, visitors Bradford have had midtable form, taking 22 points from 15 league games, losing four of their last five.
So, the visitors are flying up the league with Kyrell Lisbie and Jimmy-Jay Morgan in sumptuous form, whereas the Bantams have dropped off of late, and haven’t been playing well since autumn.
Peterborough are underdogs at 27/10 – and they might be underrated for their trip to West Yorkshire.
Exeter City v Northampton Town - Northampton to Win
Exeter welcome Northampton knowing the likelihood that this will be Gary Caldwell’s last game in charge of the club, ending a three-and-a-half year association.
The Scot has been heavily linked with the Wigan job, and it would be no surprise to see him take Saturday’s game, before sitting in the stands at Arsenal on Sunday to watch his new team in the FA Cup.
It’s hard to blame Caldwell for making the move, given the deep-rooted financial and structural challenges the Grecians are encountering.
He’s done a fantastic job to keep City clear of relegation trouble, managing 13th, 14th and 16th-placed finishes, with the team currently in 13th – pretty much the ceiling of what can be achieved.
The timing of the fixture, then, could suit Northampton, who have shown signs of life with four points from their last two league games, scoring five goals.
The Cobblers have a good defence, helped by the experience of Elliott Moore, and a solid midfield pairing of Dean Campbell and Terry Taylor – and with some positive attacking signs, they’ll feel they can grab a goal or two to give their survival chances a crucial boost.
Crewe Alexandra v Gillingham - Crewe to Win
It’s hard to say how much credit to give Gillingham for three wins in five, when they’ve come against bottom two opponents Newport and Harrogate, as well as a woefully out of form Tranmere side decimated by injuries.
Recent defeats to Bromley, Notts County and Swindon suggest the Gills are some way short of being able to compete with the better teams in the league, bearing in mind that 51% of their current points haul came in the first nine games.
Hosts Crewe look a better bet to challenge for the Play-Offs this season, with Lee Bell’s side having lost just one of their eight league games in 2026.
The Alex have key defender Mickey Demetriou back fit, they have the talented Owen Lunt in midfield, and on-loan attacking midfielder Tommi O’Reilly showing why he was nicknamed after Phil Foden at Aston Villa, racking up the assists for Lee Bell’s side.
The Railwaymen are a better team than Gillingham, and to a greater extent than their 6/4 price would suggest.
Tranmere Rovers v Crawley Town - Crawley to Win
It doesn’t show in the league table, yet, but Crawley are one of the better footballing sides in the league.
Scott Lindsey’s side are a tidy outfit that are very good at finding their way into the final third, and they do have players in January returnee Danilo Orsi and Klaidi Lolos, plus Harry McKirdy, who can link up and do damage.
They need to tighten up at the back, and find that clinical edge, but between both boxes they’re playing well enough to think they have a big win coming around the corner.
The Red Devils are hoping that can come at Tranmere, who have lost each of their last six league games, leaving Andy Crosby’s side relieved that the gap to the drop zone is still as big as 11 points.
