Newcastle vs Barcelona Tips, Prediction & 34/1 Bet Builder

St James’ Park will be rocking on Tuesday evening as Newcastle host Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.
There have been a few famous clashes between these sides over the years, and the winner of this tie will face either Atletico Madrid or Tottenham in the quarter-finals, which is a mouthwatering prospect.
How will this match unfold? Our preview is complete with stats and football betting tips to cast your eye over ahead of kick-off.

Tip 1: Newcastle to Win
After sailing through into the last 16 proper courtesy of a 9-3 aggregate victory over Qarabag in the play-off tie, Newcastle should have a spring in their step.
Things have picked up domestically, too, for the Magpies. Although they were knocked out in the FA Cup fifth round by Manchester City, they beat Manchester United 2-1 earlier in the week in the league, and it was a rousing performance.
Barcelona, of course, have plenty of pedigree in Europe’s elite competition, and they are five-time winners. They also warmed up for this tie with a 1-0 win away to Athletic Club in La Liga, and they were more threatening in the second half.
Although they lost 2-1 at home to Barcelona in the league phase in September, I still look back wistfully on Newcastle’s 3-2 victory against the Catalan giants in September 1997, which was capped by a stunning Faustino Asprilla hat-trick.
While Barca have won the first leg in five of their past six Champions League ties against English sides (D1), I’m going with Newcastle to take a slender lead to protect in the Nou Camp.
Tip 2: Lamine Yamal (Anytime Scorer)
Routinely spoken of in the same breath as Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal has been electrifying for Barca, and it’s easy to forget he’s just 18.
He can turn games on their head, and apart from an array of tricks up his sleeve, he is clinical in and around the penalty area.
Yamal has netted three times in the Champions League this term, but he’s rattled home four goals in his past three outings, so Newcastle will need to do their homework.
However, I can’t see Newcastle completely stifling him, so Yamal to score anytime is appealing.
Tip 3: Newcastle to Win, Marcus Rashford Anytime Assist, Over 6.5 Saves
While Newcastle don’t have the strongest record against Barcelona, they will be eager to exact revenge for their reverse in the league phase, and they could eke out an advantage after the first leg.
Add to your bet builder Marcus Rashford to have his say on the game. The striker, who is on loan from Manchester United, scored a double against Newcastle in the previous meeting in September, but he could pop up with an assist.
Round things up with both goalkeepers to be kept occupied. The saves market, and Over 6.5 saves across the 90 minutes is inviting.
