Racing Blogger's Football Tips
I’ve got three Premier League picks for Saturday - let's hope we can do some damage at the betting sites.
Tip 1: Manchester City to beat Manchester United
Manchester City have to win this to keep the pressure on Arsenal, and I think they will.
United have just changed manager and brought in Michael Carrick until the end of the season. That can spark a bit of short-term enthusiasm, but this is a huge ask against a City side who know exactly what’s required of them at this stage of the campaign.
City are the better team across the pitch and I expect them to get the job done, which would move them back within three points of Arsenal, who play later in the day.
Tip 2: Liverpool to beat Burnley
On the numbers alone, Burnley are the weakest side in the league so far this season and they’ve struggled badly in most departments.
Anfield is not the place you want to go when confidence is low, and I expect Liverpool to be on the front foot from the off.
Tip 3: Arsenal to beat Nottingham Forest
The late kick-off sees Arsenal looking to extend their lead at the top, and I can’t see them slipping up.
I was at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and Arsenal really impressed me. They’ve got players coming back and hitting form, and there’s a real confidence about the side right now.
Forest, by contrast, have struggled over the past few weeks. The new-manager bounce under Sean Dyche has faded and they look short on confidence and ideas. Against an Arsenal team playing with this level of control and belief, that’s a dangerous combination. Arsenal should be too strong.
