Here are Kai's five top football betting tips for the weekend, featuring the best odds from UK betting sites to help you get maximum value on your bets.
Motherwell vs Falkirk - Both teams to score
Motherwell have failed to beat Falkirk in their two previous meetings this season. The first was an enthralling game at Fir Park which truly encapsulated the phrase ‘a game of two halves’. Motherwell were dominating and had a goal wrongly disallowed shortly before going 1-0 up which is how the score remained at half-time.
Falkirk didn’t offer much in the first half but came out all guns blazing in the second half, didn’t let Motherwell settle and scored two unanswered goals to come away with a 2-1 victory. The second meeting in December was a more drab affair that ended 0-0 at the Falkirk stadium.
Motherwell haven’t struggled against many teams this season but John McGlynn does seem to have their number going from the last two fixtures but this one is huge in terms of the race for fourth place.
Motherwell haven’t won in their last three after defeats to Dundee, Celtic then a 0-0 draw with Hibs last time out. Jens Berthel Askou’s side sit six points clear of Hibs currently and David Gray’s side take on second bottom Kilmarnock this weekend.
Falkirk could also catch Hibs though as they are only five points behind so will want to keep up the pressure on them. Any point in this match would secure top six for Falkirk in what has been an incredible season for their first back in the top flight.
Both teams will think they can win this one and they both really need the three points. Can Motherwell stop Barney Stewart who’s been on fire? Can Tawanda Maswanhise get back amongst the goals?
I’m excited for this one!
St Mirren vs Aberdeen - Under 2.5 goals
This is a game that all St. Mirren fans would have marked on their calendar as soon as Stephen Robinson left to go to Aberdeen. An almost immediate opportunity for revenge and to show their former manager that he made the wrong choice.
That being said, I think this will be a terrible game! Between the two they have one win in the last ten which was St. Mirren’s surprise victory against Falkirk last time out. Aberdeen were really poor against Rangers, despite bringing it back to 2-1 at the start of the second half.
They looked weak defensively and had no quality going forward, they are in a really bad way currently.
St. Mirren aren’t much better, despite that win against Falkirk they’re still the lowest scorers in the league, by a distance. They have only scored 25 goals in 31 matches which is six less than the next lowest side and due to that they have the third worst goal difference, three goals better off than Killie and eight more than Livi.
I just can’t see this being a match that fans will remember, despite it being Robinson’s return to Paisley, 0-0 written all over it for me!
Rangers vs Dundee United - Rangers to win & Mikey Moore to score
If Rangers beat Dundee United at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon they will go top of the league for the first time this season! It won’t be easy though as Jim Goodwin’s side were impressive against Celtic in their 2-0 home win just before the international break.
There’s also still an outside chance that they could make the top six but to do that they would have to win their next two games, Falkirk would need to lose both and the goal difference would have to swing by seven.
It’s a long shot but nothing is impossible.
That being said, I strongly fancy Rangers to take their chance and get to the top of the Scottish Premiership, even if it’s just until Hearts play on Sunday.
Moore has been in excellent form, even if it hasn’t always translated into goals and assists. His ability to carry the ball up the pitch and drive through the opposition is key in Rangers ability to create chances.
He’s on six goals for the season so far, having added to it in the last match against Aberdeen where, again, he looked so dangerous from the left.
Celtic created chances in the wide areas at Tannadice and I think Moore will run the show at Ibrox again on Saturday. A comfortable Rangers win and a Moore masterclass is coming in this one, in my opinion!
Ayr vs Partick - Partick to win
These are odds I don’t understand, Ayr haven’t beaten Partick in the last five fixtures, Scott Brown left at the beginning of the week after a 3-0 hammering against Raith, they haven’t won in their last seven and they sit eight in the table currently.
Partick, on the other hand, are unbeaten in their last five, winning three of them, including their last two and now find themselves just three points behind league leaders St. Johnstone. They also have the second best defensive record in the league whilst Ayr haven’t scored in their last two.
John Rankin has taken over the honest men until the end of the season but I can’t see him preventing a victory for Mark Wilson’s side here.
Ross County vs Airdrie - Both teams to score
This game is HUGE, Airdrie are bottom of the table, one point behind Ross County but they have a game in hand. The result on Saturday could provide a massive boost for either side in their fight to stay in the Scottish Championship.
It looks likely that these two will be the bottom two come the end of the season so both are fighting to finish in ninth place so they at least have a shot at survival via the play-offs.
Ross County have the worst defensive record in the league and Airdrie are the lowest scorers, both teams are in such bad form but both need a win, this should be a very competitive game and I can see both sides absolutely going for it.
