RBC Canadian Open Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

The RBC Canadian Open arrives in its familiar spot on the schedule, sitting one week before the US Open and asking players to strike the balance between preparation and opportunity. While that timing inevitably means some of the very biggest names choose to rest, this remains an event with genuine identity and one players still value winning.
TPC Toronto returns as host after making its PGA Tour debut last year and it again looks set to reward attacking golf. At over 7,300 yards for a par 70, the layout gives players room from the tee and places more emphasis on creating short approaches into subtly contoured greens than simply surviving off the fairway. With only two par fives but several lengthy par fours, distance remains an asset, particularly if conditions soften again and another low-scoring week develops.
Our Freebets.com golf expert Ben Smith is here with his golf tips ahead of this week's action in Toronto.

Tip 1: Winner - Alex Fitzpatrick (Each-Way)
An early exit at the PGA Championship did little to slow Alex Fitzpatrick down, with last week’s sixth-place finish showing that the bigger picture remains extremely positive. High finishes have stacked up over recent months and he heads to Canada with a level of form matched by very few in this field.
A big part of that has been the quality of his long game. Since the Zurich Classic victory alongside brother Matt, Fitzpatrick has repeatedly produced some of the best approach and tee-to-green numbers in tournaments he’s played, giving himself enough chances to contend even without a red-hot putter.
Length helps at TPC Toronto, but last year suggested it isn’t essential if you can keep creating birdie looks, and that profile fits Fitzpatrick well.
Tip 2: Jordan Smith (Each-Way)
Jordan Smith has quietly put together enough good golf this season to make his price look interesting. The irons have remained reliable throughout and he’s regularly done enough tee-to-green to leave himself birdie looks.
Too often those openings haven’t been converted. Colonial did offer some promise, though, with Smith gaining strokes on the greens in three of four rounds and ending the week inside the top 15. Something around field average on the greens would make him dangerous here.
Tip 3: Winner - Tony Finau (Each-Way)
Tony Finau’s driver has started to look like a weapon again, with elite off-the-tee performances showing up in two of his last three starts and carrying him to one of his better finishes of the season with a T6 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.
That matters at TPC Toronto, where freedom from the tee and the ability to stay aggressive should suit his natural game. Add in a solid record in this event and there’s a case to be made he can outperform his price with even average support from the irons.
Tip 4: Winner - Max Greyserman (Each-Way)
Colonial was a complete non-event for Max Greyserman, but the surrounding starts leave enough encouragement. A top-15 at the PGA Championship and a top-10 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson offered a reminder of the player who kept knocking on the door last season.
TPC Toronto should suit him. Space from the tee and a score likely moving well into double digits matches the conditions under which he has produced some of his best golf. He doesn’t need everything to click to feature here, only a week where each department pulls in the same direction.
