Latest Profit & Loss Figures
Another excellent week, taking our profit for the last two weeks to +£45.74, the highlight being Tuesday’s 88/1 treble.
We had a total of 10 winners on the week, along with several placed selections. Saturday was our only losing day out of six, although the victories of Hawk Mountain and Give It To Me Oj kept the losses down to a minimum.
- P/L for the week ending Sunday, October 26th: +£19.91
- P/L for the year 2025 to date: +£42.57
- P/L for the year 2024: +£200.42
- P/L since 1st September 2022: +£528.56
Alan Kelly's Tips - Monday, October 27th
We head to the flat meeting at Redcar and over the jumps at Wexford in Ireland for Monday's selections.
Ground on the soft-side of good is expected at both venues.
3:30pm Wexford - Rocky’s Diamond (Nap)
A cracking renewal of this 2m 7f Michael Hickey Memorial Chase (Listed Race), the field of 7 promising chasers headed by the 150-rated Gorgeous Tom, the Henry De Bromhead-trained seven-year-old last seen finishing fourth in Grade 1 novice chases at Fairyhouse and both the Cheltenham and Punchestown Festivals.
Darragh O’Keeffe’s mount has to concede between 7lb and a stone to his 6 rivals on his reappearance however, all of which should be winning races over the bigger obstacles during the months ahead. Possibly the most exciting is Declan Queally’s ROCKY'S DIAMOND (Nap), who gets a handy 12lb from Gorgeous Tom.
Fourth behind Bob Olinger and Teahupoo in this year’s Paddy Power Stayer’s Hurdle at Prestbury Park, Rocky’s Diamond made his chasing debut at Galway last month when proving far too good for his 6 rivals. While Michael Kenneally’s mount is sure to find this much tougher, Rocky’s Diamond looks a top class staying chaser in the making. The other one to consider is Blizzard Of Oz from the Willie Mullins stable, beaten on all 4 starts over fences but showing a good deal of promise on each occasion.
Recommendation: Rocky’s Diamond (Nap)
3:45pm Redcar - La Trinidad (Each-Way)
Three horses from the classic generation, Sex On Fire, Noche Clasica and It’sneverjustone are all interesting contenders for this one mile class 3 handicap. Richard Spencer’s runner is better than his recent form figures of 6-8-7-4-5 would indicate, David Egan’s mount not beaten far at all in four of those five races.
It’sneverjustone won races at Ffos Las and Galway during the summer before disappointing on two subsequent starts but would have a chance if bouncing back to form. Noche Clasica will be having just her 6th career start, the first for current trainer Ed Bethell after spells with Kevin Ryan and James Owen.
The filly made her racecourse debut only 6 months ago at Newcastle and any market confidence in the daughter of Night Of Thunder is likely to prove significant. Heading the weights on a mark of 90 is the Roger Fell-trained LA TRINIDAD (Each-Way) who gets the vote in the hands of jockey Jonny Peate.
The eight-year-old has performed well on all four previous visits to the course, most recently when winning a handicap over today’s distance off a 2lb higher mark last June. La Trinidad has been kept busy this season, all 9 outings coming in Class 2 company, including when finishing 7th in a valuable contest at York earlier this month.
The selection should appreciate dropping down to this level for the first time since winning here last year, and is fancied to go close off his lowest mark since the summer of 2023.
Recommendation: La Trinidad (Each-Way)
4:03pm Wexford - Fleur In The Park (Each-Way)
No prices as I write for this informative beginners chase. I expect Willie Mullins’ 145-rated Tullyhill to head the market at short odds, although the Listed hurdles winner has been beaten on all four outings over fences, pulling-up when fancied for a valuable handicap at Punchestown on his most recent start back in May.
If putting his best foot forward, Paul Townsend’s mount is clearly the one they all have to beat, although that is a big if. I would rather back the Andrew Stattery-trained FLEUR IN THE PARK (Each-Way), the winner of a novices’ hurdle on this card 12 months ago, the six-year-old’s only victory to date so far.
Making his chasing debut at Gowran Park earlier this month, the Walk In The Park gelding, runner-up in a Grade 2 hurdle at Fairyhouse’s Easter meeting, finished a promising second to a promising novice of Henry De Bromhead’s in Taponthego and is fancied to take advantage should Tullyhill disappoint once again.
Recommendation: Fleur In The Park (Each-Way)
