Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Tuesday, 14 July - Leicester & Beverley
Charlie heads to Beverley on Tuesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
2:54pm Leicester - Joanna Hiffernan
Betelgeuse – pronounced Beetlejuice – is blinkered for the first time as he bids to end a frustrating run, having finished second three times since breaking his duck at Southwell from a 7lbs lower mark back in October over 1m6f. He drops back to 12f for the first time in over twelve months this afternoon, having been beaten a head – in first-time cheekpieces – on the July course last time from a 1lb lower mark.
The vote, however, goes to the handicap debutante JOANNA HIFFERNAN, who is a half-sister to the classy stayer Alfred Boucher – runs in the same colours – and has shown enough in her three runs in Novice/Maiden company that she might be able to exploit an opening mark of sixty-two.
David Probert is the fourth jockey in four runs on the four-year-old, who didn't make her racecourse debut until May. She was not knocked about when beaten – led to two furlongs out – when beaten 11l by the seventy-eight rated Cape Fear at Lingfield – turf – last time, although the winner was a disappointing odds-on favourite – punted off the boards – at Newmarket on Saturday.
Recommendation: Joanna Hiffernan - 2/1 with bet365
3:17pm Beverley - It's Debatable
Ed Bethell had a double at Hamilton on Sunday, and he has his string in tremendous shape, although his Danger Bay – despite being beaten 4l – really should have won the John Smith's Cup at York on Saturday. The latter is a Group horse and should not be opposed next time, although we won't get 15/2 unless he goes straight into G1 company.
IT'S DEBATABLE makes his handicap debut, having finished a neck behind Kahin – who finished runner up in a hot York handicap from a mark of eighty-two on Friday – at Hamilton over 1m1f last time. Kahin was beaten almost 4l on the Knavesmire, so the selection is not exactly thrown in from an opening mark of eighty, but he is open to considerable improvement after just three starts, and I thought he would relish the additional furlong given he hit the line hard in Scotland.
The filly Tamzan won a maiden here over an extended mile last time and steps up in trip for Marcus Tregoning this afternoon. She is out of a 10f winner, but her three previous offspring have pulled up few trees. She has been raised 6lbs for her recent course win but looks the one to beat in receipt of 7lbs from the top-weight.
Interestingly, both It's Debatable and Tamzan hold entries later in the week back at a mile, so perhaps connections of both are not yet entirely convinced that ten furlongs will see them in a better light.
Recommendation: It's Debatable - 13/8 with bet365
3:48pm Beverley - Melting Snow (Nap)
Bradbury has been called a few rude names in the past and does have his own ideas on the game, but he has done us a couple of favours in recent weeks, and he has been raised just 4lbs for those two narrow but comprehensive successes. He holds an entry, surprisingly, back at a mile at Pontefract on Friday.
I will save on Ed Bethell's gelding if prices allow, but he has the worst of the draw in stall nine, and marginal preference is for the handicap debutante and fellow three-year-old MELTING SNOW (Nap), who comes from the family of, and runs in the colours of, Snow Fairy.
The filly finished a never nearer sixth – of nine – beaten just over 5l over an extended seven furlongs here last month and has been sent off at 28/1, 100/1 and 40/1 for her three runs. She is bred to come into her own over this trip, and I thought she ran an eye-catching race here under Sam James last time.
James – who rode an excellent double at Ascot on Saturday – keeps the ride for Ed Dunlop this afternoon, and she, too, holds an entry in the mile handicap at Pontefract on Friday.
Recommendation: Melting Snow (Nap) - 9/4 with VirginBet
