4:45pm Hamilton - Ride The Thunder (Each-Way)
The William Haggas-trained 1m3f course winner Valiancy was fitted with first-time cheekpieces when landing a valuable handicap over 1m6f at Haydock when last seen back in September. The headgear is left off this afternoon for his seasonal reappearance, and he is 3lbs worse off with the second RIDE THE THUNDER (Each-Way) beaten just three-quarters of a length.
Looking back at the race, the pair, who came from the back of the field, made their challenges on opposite parts of the track, with the winner on the far side, while Silvestre De Sousa came nearest the stands' rail before veering sharply across the track to finish on the far side.
The lack of headgear is a slight concern for the Haggas four-year-old while Roger Varian gelded Ride The Thunder over the winter. I believe both will win a big race this term, but the selection is more than double the price of Valiancy and this slight drop back down in distance is considered a plus.
Ray Dawson rode Rahiebb to victory in the Yorkshire Cup on the Knavesmire on Friday, and he takes over in the plate. The Haydock run was his first at 1m6f and, while he got the trip well, this 1m5f could well be his optimum.

4:05pm Stratford - A Little Something (Nap)
A LITTLE SOMETHING (Nap) is improving over fences and ran well when second at Fontwell last time against geldings despite jumping out to the right on occasions in the home straight.
Emma Lavelle's string continue in good form and, after just three career chase starts, this mare has the size and scope to improve over fences, yet her chase mark is 1lb below her hurdle rating. She remains a maiden after twelve starts - and pulled up few trees in her three runs in point-to-points – but I was impressed with her at both Ludlow and Fontwell and will be disappointed if she does not run a huge race in this modest company.
Little Wren made all to score at Fakenham for Dan Skelton despite not jumping with any great fluency from a 6lbs lower mark back in January. She again fenced poorly when pulled up at Plumpton last time, although 3m2f on soft ground was never likely to suit. She is considered the chief threat.
Recommendation: A Little Something (Nap) - 11/10 with bet365
