Charlie McCann’s Horse Racing Tips For Sunday, 5 July - Market Rasen
Charlie heads to Market Rasen on Sunday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
2:50pm Market Rasen - Fidendum
Crown Of India had FIDENDUM a length back in third at Worcester on his penultimate start, but I hope to see the latter reverse the form on 3lbs better terms with the return to a right-hand track considered a plus for the selection.
Fidendum has course form figures of 2-1 and is lightly raced for one of his age (7) with just five career starts over hurdles. He does jump slightly right, and a return to a clockwise track will suit, and I hope to see Nick Slatter set a stronger gallop than was the case at Worcester last time.
The chief threat could be Granny Hawkins, who has been raised 18lbs for winning her last three for Alan King earlier in the year and returns from an 11-week break. She was hampered at the third flight when scoring at Stratford from a 6lbs lower mark last time, but the form has not worked out particularly well, and preference is for the top-weight.
Recommendation: Fidendum
4:35pm Market Rasen - Ballydisco (Nap)
Rail movements add more than a furlong to the advertised distance of the 3m handicap chase, and I wonder if Huckleberry Sting's stamina will give way, although this strong traveller and sound jumper is handicapped to win.
The vote, however, goes to another top-weight BALLYDISCO (Nap) who ran a race full of promise when second – albeit beaten 18l – at Uttoxeter on his first start for the Tom Lacey yard and his first outing for 430 days. The nine-year-old travelled well to two out at the Staffordshire track and has been given plenty of time – six weeks – to get over those exertions.
He was weak in the mark on his comeback run – 6/1 from 4/1 on the shows – which suggests connections felt he would come on for the run. His two career wins have come racing left-handed, but he did run well over 3m3f+ here in the Lincolnshire National of 2024. As a son of Presenting, the forecast good ground is ideal, although the rail movements do place more emphasis on stamina than I would have wished.
Recommendation: Ballydisco (Nap)

Horse racing has long been Charlie's passion - ironic, really, as he'll never pass the vet again, as sports injuries have come back to bite - with a specialism in handicap chases over jumps and 1m+ handicaps on the level.
