Charlie McCann’s Horse Racing Tips For Wednesday, 27 May - Hamilton, Newton Abbot & Beverley
Charlie heads to Newton Abbot on Wednesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.com.
3:35pm Hamilton - Shipshape
Someone quite close to me – in the industry - told me years ago that I was one of the best tipsters he had ever come across, yet one of the worst punters, given my knowledge and propensity for tipping winners. There is a difference.
I was reminded of it again when tipping and backing Analogical at Thirsk on his penultimate start, when he finished third in a farce of a 1m6f handicap run in a time over 14 seconds above standard.
The horse opened at 10/11 on the Friday night, and I thought that was a fair price, and I continued to back him as he drifted out to 11/8 on Saturday, assuming jockey Dylan Hogan would make the running, given he had stamina in abundance and was likely to get a soft lead.
Much to my chagrin, he was held up out of the back of the field, stone cold last. There was plenty of money about for SHIPSHAPE, but the latter was also inconvenienced by the crawl and two-furlong sprint and finished second to the excellently ridden 33/1 outsider Scottish Dancer.
I didn't tip or back Analogical (SP 5/2) last week when – lo and behold – he made all under 7lbs claimer Poppy Scott at Catterick. Not a penny, although I knew he was the type of progressive young stayer that the Prescott yard does so well with.
Shipshape cannot allow this 1m5f race to become tactical, and there is no guaranteed pace in the race, although top-weight Raulin led at Redcar over 10f last time. I hope Connor Beasley – who was in the plate at Thirsk last time - decides to take the bull by the horns on Shipshape, and the four-year-old might settle better on the lead if allowed to make his own running.
Gentle Warrior has ability but is not the heartiest of battlers despite winning a couple last term for Karl Burke. He threw the towel in at Nottingham, although his supporters will tell you he does not want to be in front too long. Shipshape has been raised a pound for Thirsk, while Gentle Warrior has been eased 1lb, but it is the Welsh raider who gets the vote.
Recommendation: Shipshape - 13/8 with bet365
3:53pm Newton Abbot - Rickety Bridge (Nap)
Time To Bite will ensure a decent test in the 3m1f+ handicap chase, given he likes to dominate, and a 4lbs rise is fair for his fluent win at Fakenham in a valuable Veterans' Chase last time. He will have to defy a career high mark if he is to follow up this afternoon, but he loves the track – three-time course winner – and will not go down without a fight.
Snipe wasn't beaten far in the Aintree Foxhunters, having won twice in that sphere earlier in the year. He has edged back up in the weights as a result, and the vote goes to the novice RICKETY BRIDGE (Nap), who created such a favourable impression when making a winning chase debut over course and distance earlier in the month.
The second Dyno Dave had fallen on his penultimate start and was ridden as if a clear round was the primary objective, but I was impressed with the winner, and I felt a 3lbs rise was fair. After just one chase start – and a win of his sole point-to-point – the Paul Nicholls-trained 7-year-old is open to further improvement.
Recommendation: Rickety Bridge (Nap) - 11/8 with bet365
3:45pm Beverley - Endless Whisper
The return to 10f is of no great concern to the hat-trick seeking Hibernate, who drops back down in distance, having made all at over 1m1f Yarmouth last month prior to scoring at Bath over 12f earlier in the month. He has been raised 10lbs for that brace of wins and looks vulnerable off his revised mark.
I am going to take a chance on the lightly raced maiden ENDLESS WHISPER, a six-year-old mare who has only had seven career runs but made a pleasing comeback when beaten a length-and-a-half at Doncaster on her reappearance back in March.
She stays 12f, but the hope is that she will not be inconvenienced by the drop back in distance. She has a ground-saving draw in stall one, and the hope is that she will get a strong gallop to chase with Hibernate and Kitsune Power also dropping back down in trip and likely to ensure a good test.
Recommendation: Endless Whisper - 4/1 with bet365
