Betfair Chase Betting 2023, Best Betting Offers, Odds & Tips

Can Bravemansgame bounce back from his Charlie Hall defeat?

The Betfair Chase is a Grade 1 National Hunt chase run at Haydock Park over a distance of 3 miles and 1⁄2 furlongs, with nineteen fences jumped, and is scheduled to take place each year in late November.

The race is the first Grade 1 chase on the National Hunt calendar, and it is seen as a key early-season test for horses aiming for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March.

Some of the top horses in recent history have won the Betfair Chase, including Kauto Star, Cue Card, Bristol De Mai, and A Plus Tard.

This year’s Betfair Chase will take place on Saturday, November 25, with four runners heading to post.

Bravemansgame heads the betting for trainer Paul Nicholls, arriving here after placing 2nd in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

Last year’s winner Protektorat returns aiming to defend his crown while the in-form Venetia Williams saddles Royal Pagaille, a Haydock specialist with form figures of 1-1-2-1 at the course.

The field is completed by the 2023 Grand National winner Corach Rambler, trained by Lucinda Russell.

Tom Bellamy’s Betfair Chase View

Going up to Haydock and the Betfair Chase at 3:00pm, where Harry Cobden has chosen not to go to ride Bravemansgame, and I think he’s going to win.

He looked in need of his run at Wetherby, especially with what he did at the last where he made a mistake. He would have recovered from that quickly if he was fully tuned up, but he didn’t - it knocked everything out of him, and then the race was over.

I think you can safely say he is a better horse than the winner that day. He still finished second in a Charlie Hall, but you can probably put a line through that, he’s better than his Wetherby performance, and I think we will see that at Haydock.
