Aston Villa vs Newcastle Prediction, FA Cup Odds, Betting Tips & 55/1 Bet Builder

It’s FA Cup weekend and one of the most appealing ties takes place at Villa Park where Aston Villa host Newcastle.
It’s one of only two all-Premier League affairs in the fourth round and there will be plenty of eyeballs on Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off, which is live on BBC.
Both teams come into the game on the back of a mid-week Premier League win, but the best betting sites are expecting a home win with Villa odds-on (8/13) to advance to the next round.
It might not be that straightforward though, and we’ve picked out our best bets and free bet offers on the game below.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle Tips
Tip 1: Draw and Under 2.5 Goals
There’s no doubt both managers will have notions of winning this year’s FA Cup, especially given Unai Emery’s track record for delivering trophies.
Eddie Howe also got a taste of cup glory with Newcastle’s League Cup triumph last season, and an FA Cup run would help silence his doubters following the Magpies’ underwhelming season this time around.
Both sides are expected to field strong teams and with much at stake they could well cancel each other out. The draw, which would lead to extra time, is priced up at 13/5 but you can bulk out those odds by backing under 2.5 goals.
Six out of Villa’s last seven games have gone under 2.5 goals, while both teams have scored just 37 Premier League goals in 26 matches this season. Of the top 10 in the table, only Everton have scored less than these two sides.
Tip 2: Villa to win on Penalties
Of course, since I’m predicting a draw, that means I’m expecting this one to go to extra time, such is the way of the FA Cup these days.
If the game does indeed make it that far, you would expect things to become even more cagey as one lapse in concentration could send either side out of the cup.
Given they have the home advantage, and more momentum than Newcastle with three wins in their last five, it would be difficult not to side with the hosts in the event of a penalty shoot-out.
There’s inviting odds about either team winning via a penalty shoot-out (11/2 on betting apps) but I can’t pass up on bet365’s top price of 11/1 on Villa to advance via spot-kicks.
Tip 3: Draw and under 2.5 goals, Villa to win on penalties and ‘No’ on both teams to get a card
These two teams have been among the most disciplined Premier League sides this season, with Villa sitting fourth in the fair play table, just ahead of sixth-placed Newcastle.
They’ve both picked up 37 yellow cards in 26 games, an average of 1.4 per game – only Arsenal and Manchester United have had fewer yellow cards in the league.
Newcastle have shown tremendous discipline in two of their toughest away matches in recent weeks – picking up no cards away to Manchester City and only one card away to Paris St-Germain.
Likewise, Villa picked up zero cards in their recent meeting with Brentford, so both teams have it in their locker to stay out of the referee’s notebook.
Indeed, the last meeting between these two sides yielded just three yellow cards, two of which came late in the game. Football betting sites suggest both teams are likely to pick up at least one booking, but that opens up value on the other side of the market.
You’ll get 3/1 on at least one of these sides getting through 90 minutes without picking up a card. If you throw that in a bet builder with our two other selections above you’ll accumulate odds of 55/1 on bet365.
