Liverpool vs Manchester City Betting Tips, Bet Builder & Odds

Manchester City go to Anfield on Sunday knowing they can’t afford to drop many more points if they are to replace this weekend’s opponents as champions.
City surrendered a two-goal lead at Tottenham last week to fall six points behind league leaders Arsenal, and that gap could be nine points if the Gunners beat Sunderland 24 hours earlier.
Pep Guardiola’s side did bounce back in midweek, booking passage through to a fifth Carabao Cup final under the Spaniard with a 3-1 win over Newcastle.
But now they must travel to Anfield, where City have rarely done well, to face a Liverpool side fresh from its own comfortable victory against the Magpies.
The Premier League odds for this one suggest a tight game, but the Reds look the form side of the two and have a formidable record against City at home, losing just one of the last 10 games.
Liverpool vs Manchester City Tips
Here are our three football betting tips, the latest odds and several free bet offers for Sunday’s game.
Tip 1: Liverpool to win
Last week on Free Bets, we put up Liverpool to see off a side they love to host in Newcastle, and this feels like a similar situation.
Guardiola has never seen his City side win here in front of fans - the 2021 victory on Merseyside was played behind closed doors - and you have to go back to 2003 for the last time supporters attended a Cityzens victory at Anfield.
Anfield isn’t the impregnable fortress it has been, but Arne Slot’s team have still won 12 out of 19 games on home soil, including five of the last seven.
The Reds impressed in the win over Newcastle, playing with a great tempo, and the attack, led by Hugo Ekitike, has now bagged 20 goals across the last six games.
Defensive injuries remain a concern for Liverpool, but that’s also an area where City are depleted, even with one-time Liverpool target Marc Guehi now in sky blue.
This looks like a good spot to take on City, who are tough to trust right now.
They’ve won one of the last six in the league, have one win in the last five games on the road in all competitions, and they’ve developed a worrying habit of fading in the second half of matches.
City can’t even rely on Erling Haaland to get them out of a tight spot any longer, with the Norwegian having scored just twice in 2026. To put that into context, he’d scored 25 for City before the turn of the year.
Tip 2: Florian Wirtz to score or assist
No question Ekitike has been Liverpool’s signing of the season, but coming up fast on the rails to challenge for second is Florian Wirtz.
Having been stuck in the stalls for the first half of the season, the German has really started to flourish since scoring his first goal for the Reds on December 27.
Wirtz has netted five more times since then, while also registering three assists across his last 10 games.
Other metrics, such as expected goals and assists, and his average number of touches per game, have also seen an uptick, while his understanding with Ekitike should have Liverpool fans excited for the future.
Tip 3: Antoine Semenyo to score anytime, Hugo Ekitike over 3.5 shots & over 1.5 second half goals
Unlike Wirtz, Antoine Semenyo has needed no time to settle into his new surroundings, scoring four goals in his first six appearances for City.
He gave Liverpool big problems when Bournemouth visited earlier in the season, scoring twice for the Cherries, and if he starts on the left against makeshift right-back Domonik Szoboszlai, he’ll prove a handful again.
It would be remiss of me not to take a look at Ekitike in some way after he took his tally for the season to 15 with a brace against Newcastle.
Nine of those goals have come at Anfield, where he’s averaged a ridiculous 4.5 shots per game over his last seven home appearances for Liverpool.
City are better than a lot of the teams Ekitike has faced in that run, but they still allowed Xavi Simons to have five efforts at goal in last week’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham.
City shipped two second-half goals in that game at Spurs, taking their tally for second-half goals allowed in 2026 to six.
There have been over 1.5 goals in 67 per cent of City’s second halves this season, while Liverpool score a large percentage of their goals after the interval, and over 1.5 second half goals serves as the anchor for our bet builder.
