Zurich Classic of New Orleans Betting Tips

The return to action of newly crowned Masters champion Rory McIlroy sees him defend the Zurich Classic of New Orleans with Shane Lowry.

It is a strong field in Louisiana, with the Irish pair priced as the standout favourites 12 months after becoming the seventh duo to win the event since it switched to a team format in 2017.

Winner

Billy Horschel / Tom Hoge (each-way, 6 places)
Zurich Classic of New Orleans
Place a min £10 bet on Sportsbook on odds of min EVS (2.0), get £50 in Free Bet Builders, Accumulators or multiples to use on any sport. Rewards valid for 30 days. Only deposits via cards or Apple Pay will qualify. T&Cs apply. Please Gamble Responsibly.
  • Billy Horschel / Tom Hoge (each-way, 6 places)

McIlroy and Lowry will be difficult to stop this week, but one partnership capable of taking the title away from them could be the in-form Tom Hoge and fellow American Billy Horschel, who has triumphed twice at TPC Louisiana - once on his own, and more recently with Scott Piercy.

Horschel almost added a third Zurich Classic title to his CV in 2022, but he and Sam Burns were edged out by the formidable pairing of Scottie Scheffler and Patrick Cantlay.

Hoge has been among the elite approach players over the last few years, and his shortcomings off the tee won’t matter so much at this gettable course.

Nick Taylor / Adam Hadwin (each-way, 6 places)
Zurich Classic of New Orleans
New Customers by invite Only. Min Deposit £20 (exc PayPal & PaySafe). Max Bonus £30 (30x wagering & max wins £2000) & 100 Free Spins @10p playable on selected games (1x wagering on wins, max wins £500) + 100% Odds Boost Token. T&Cs apply.
  • Nick Taylor / Adam Hadwin (each-way, 6 places)

This will be the third consecutive renewal in which Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin have partnered with one another at this event. It has worked well for them up to now, with a runner-up berth in 2023 and a 10th-place finish a year ago.

Once you scroll past the first five or six pairings in the field, the majority of the teams look to have a weak link on current form, and it could be argued that that’s the case with Hadwin here. Still, playing with his good friend Taylor, whose irons were dialled in up until Sawgrass, could be the lift he needs.

First Round Leader

JT Poston / Keith Mitchell (each-way, 6 places)
Zurich Classic of New Orleans
18+. BeGambleAware.org. New GB customers only. Min £10 debit card deposit. Place a £10+ bet on sportsbook at min odds 1/1 (2.0) each leg. Receive 2 x £10 free bets within 24 hours of bet settlement, and further 2 x £10 casino bonus the next day.T&C£s apply.
  • JT Poston / Keith Mitchell (each-way, 6 places)

Keith Mitchell has shot his lowest round of the tournament on day one in each of his last six starts. The 33-year-old leads the PGA Tour in round one scoring for 2025, averaging 67.1 strokes.

In previous appearances, he has had some solid showings at TPC Louisiana, finishing sixth in 2023 and T4 in 2021.

JT Poston’s approach play has been excellent in 2025, and he has turned around the substandard putting that had been holding him back.

Top 20 Finish

Victor Perez / Matthieu Pavon
Zurich Classic of New Orleans
18+ New customers only. Opt in via mobile device or app, bet up to £40 (min. £20) on any football market at odds of 2.00+, in 7 days. Get up to £40 in free bets on selected markets. Bonuses expire in 7 days. T&Cs apply. GambleAware.org | Please gamble responsibly
  • Top 20: Victor Perez / Matthieu Pavon

It’s been a stop-start campaign for Matthieu Pavon, as he’s struggled to build on the momentum of his breakthrough 2024. He did, however, win all three of his pairs matches at the Team Cup in January, and is worth chancing alongside the steady Victor Perez, who missed the cut at the Zurich Classic last time but was T13 when playing with another European, Thomas Detry, the year before.

Perez was disappointing at the Valero Texas Open, although he had shown plenty of promise from tee to green in his three previous tournaments.

Davis Riley / Nick Hardy
Zurich Classic of New Orleans
18+ New Customers Only. Opt in and bet £10 on sports (odds 1/1+) within 3 days of signing up. Get 3x£10 Free Bets for set markets (odds 1/1+) which expire in 5 days. Click for T&Cs. GambleAware.org | Please gamble responsibly
  • Top 20: Davis Riley / Nick Hardy

2023 Zurich Classic champions Davis Riley and Nick Hardy have each had low-key starts to this season, though Riley in particular is trending in the right direction after an impressive T21 on debut at the Masters.

Hardy’s short game has been a problem since last summer, but it’s still a surprise to see this pair priced so big for a top 20 finish at a place that holds such happy memories.

PGA Tour Golf Betting Tips

If you’re into golf betting, the PGA Tour offers one of the best opportunities to find value each week – but it’s not just about picking the big names.

Offering betting tips for the PGA Tour involves digging into a lot more than just current form. Course history, weather conditions, tee times, and even subtle shifts in confidence can all play a part in how a player performs. It’s all about spotting patterns, understanding the nuances of each tournament, and knowing when the odds don’t quite reflect the player’s true chances.

Providing tips also means keeping tabs on things like strokes gained data, approach play stats, and how players perform on different types of greens or layouts.

Some players are course specialists, others thrive in certain climates or on certain coasts – and that’s where the real insight comes in. Whether it’s picking outright winners, top 10s, or head-to-head matchups, offering smart, informed tips is more about reading between the lines than following the favourites. It’s part stats, part instinct – and all about timing.

Golf Betting Markets

Golf betting offers a wide variety of markets, making it an exciting sport for punters looking to test their knowledge and intuition. Whether you’re a casual bettor or a seasoned pro, there’s something for everyone when it comes to golf betting.

We will of course offer golf betting tips across all of these markets - not necessarily at the same time - but just so you know what we're talking about in our golf betting tips, here is a little explainer of the main betting markets in golf.

Outright Winner

The outright winner market is the most straightforward and popular form of golf betting. In this market, punters place wagers on the golfer they believe will win a particular tournament. With a large field of participants, the odds are often generous, providing the potential for high payouts.

This type of golf betting requires thorough research - which we will provide in our golf betting tips - including player form, course suitability, recent injuries, and weather conditions. Major tournaments like The Masters, The Open Championship, and the Ryder Cup attract heavy interest in outright winner bets, making it a key focus for both casual and seasoned golf bettors and should feature in all of our golf betting tips.

Each-Way Betting

Each-way betting is a popular option within golf betting, particularly when betting on large tournaments with big fields. This market allows punters to split their stake into two parts: one backing the golfer to win outright, and the other backing them to place within a certain range (e.g., top 5, top 10, or top 20).

If the player finishes within the specified range, the bettor receives a payout, albeit at reduced odds. This form of golf betting provides a safer approach, especially when wagering on consistent performers who may not win outright but regularly place high in tournaments.

Top 5/10/20 Finish

The top 5/10/20 finish market offers a more conservative approach to golf betting. Instead of predicting the outright winner, bettors wager on whether a player will finish within a certain placement range, such as the top 5, top 10, or top 20.

This market appeals to those looking for steadier returns, as it is generally easier to predict strong performers who frequently place well rather than win outright. In golf betting, this market is particularly popular for those betting on consistent golfers who may lack the killer instinct to secure a victory but often finish high on the leaderboard.

Head-to-Head Matchups

Head-to-head matchups are a straightforward and exciting market within golf betting. Instead of betting on the overall tournament winner, punters wager on which of two selected golfers will perform better over a single round or an entire event. This type of golf betting is particularly appealing because it reduces the complexity of analyzing an entire field to just two players.

Bettors can compare stats like driving accuracy, putting success, and previous head-to-head results. Matchups are especially popular during major tournaments, where golfers’ performances are under intense scrutiny and individual rivalries often emerge.

First-Round Leader

The first-round leader market is one of the most exciting forms of golf betting, offering instant gratification for those looking for quicker results. Instead of waiting for the entire tournament to conclude, bettors place wagers on which golfer will lead after the first round.

This type of golf betting is often unpredictable but can yield substantial rewards due to the high odds. Researching players known for fast starts or those who excel on particular courses can be advantageous. This market also appeals to bettors who prefer day-by-day betting strategies rather than waiting for the final outcome of a tournament.

Other Golf Betting Markets

So those are the main markets you'll find covered by us in our golf betting tips, but what about the smaller markets?

Be careful, you might not find all of these markets with your choice of online betting site, but if you can then there is plenty of value to be found along with the golf betting tips on offer.

Make or Miss the Cut

This market involves betting on whether a specific golfer will make or miss the cut after the first two rounds of a tournament. It’s a popular option because it provides a result halfway through the event, offering a quicker conclusion than outright betting. Punters often use this market to bet on underdogs or struggling favorites.

Group Betting

In group betting, the bookmaker selects a small group of golfers (usually four to six), and you wager on who will perform the best among them over the entire tournament. This market is attractive because it narrows the field to a manageable number of competitors, making it easier to research and analyze.

Nationality Betting

This market allows you to bet on which golfer from a particular country or region will finish highest in a tournament. For example, you might bet on the top American, top European, or top Asian player. It’s especially popular during international events like The Open Championship or the Ryder Cup.

Hole-in-One Betting

This is a specific type of prop bet where you wager on whether there will be a hole-in-one during a particular tournament. Due to the rarity of a hole-in-one, the odds are often attractive. Alternatively, you can bet on whether a specific player will achieve one.

Winning Margin

In this market, you predict the margin by which a golfer will win a tournament, such as by one stroke, two strokes, or by a playoff. This type of golf betting can offer high odds and adds an extra layer of excitement when the tournament is tightly contested.

2-Ball & 3-Ball Betting

This market involves betting on the best score between two or three grouped golfers over a single round. 2-Ball betting is common during the weekend rounds when golfers are paired in twos, while 3-Ball betting is more common in the early rounds.
