A couple of 17/2 winners helped the cause, with Grizedale the highlight, having been backed from 17/2 (14s in a place) into 2/1 on the AW at Kempton on Thursday.

2:00pm Uttoxeter - That's Nice (Each-Way)
The four-year-old Ice Jet has won his last three for Dan Skelton but has been raised the best part of two stone since March and makes his chase debut this afternoon. Four-year-olds receive 13lbs from their elders at this time of the season, and he is the one to beat if he takes to the larger obstacles.
He is likely to be a short price, however, and my two against the field are the top-weights Gaelic Rambler and THAT'S NICE (Each-Way), with preference for the latter in the hope that Harry Cobden gives the mare a more positive ride than the one he gave Liberty Coach at Perth last week.
Cobden is not having many rides at present but was in action at Roscommon on Monday evening for J P McManus, and Nicky Henderson's mare won two of her three starts over timber yet is 0-6 over fences. She is, surprisingly, rated just 2lbs lower over fences, but I thought she ran well over 3m here last time when outstayed by Regal Renaissance, who doubled up at Market Rasen on Sunday. The drop back to 2m4f will suit the six-year-old, and both her hurdles successes came over this trip at Warwick, albeit on good to soft rather than good ground. Henderson fits the mare with cheekpieces for the first time this afternoon to try and eke out the necessary improvement to get her head in front over fences.
I am convinced this two-and-a-half-mile trip is the optimum for Gaelic Rambler, and he returns from a seven-week break for Team O'Neill. He has only had seven career starts and there is a winner waiting to get out; perhaps the break will do him good after five runs in three months earlier in the year.
If prices allow – I hope the Skelton horse is put in skinny – I will back both, but marginal preference is for the mare.
Recommendation: That's Nice (Each-Way) - 7/1 with Ladbrokes (3 places)
2:30pm Uttoxeter - Karnaval Point (Nap)
Eaton Anne is visored for the first time by Olly Murphy and has every chance of giving the champion jockey another winner as he tries to peg back the early lead taken by Harry Skelton in the race for the jockeys' title. He won his sole point-to-point at this 3m trip and was beaten less than a length off this mark over the distance at Hexham back in May.
I thought KARNAVAL POINT (Nap) ran a terrific race when third in what I felt was a much stronger race over 2m5f here last time, and he can defy a 2lbs rise. His pedigree does not scream stayer, and he is not the biggest to be carrying large weights, but he won over 2m7f+ at Pau back in January, and he gets the vote. Rhian Corcoran keeps the ride for David Pipe, who has his string in excellent shape at present.
Recommendation: Karnaval Point (Nap) - 2/1 with bet365
4:18pm Pontefract - Welbury
The handicap debutant Clonquest is fitted with a hood and will be ridden by Connor Beasley for the first time, having been gelded since finishing third at Thirsk in a Novice event over a mile. A market move would be worth noting, but I hope to see a big run from WELBURY, although the grey will need to break well or he will find himself behind a wall of horses.
Ed Bethell's three-year-old was held up in a race where you needed to race prominently at Carlisle last time, but he stayed on all the way to the line, and Danny Tudhope takes over for the first time. He was sent off just 5/1 for his racecourse debut, and since that Hamilton maiden run, he has been sent off at 9/4, 11/10, 2/1, 11/10 and 7/2. The suggestion is that connections obviously feel he is better than he has so far showed on the track – he did win a Southwell novice back in March – and I wonder if returning to a left-handed track will suit, as he definitely hung left at Hamilton on his penultimate start.
The Bethell yard had a bit of a dip in form about a month ago, but they are in excellent form of late, and Danny Tudhope – who takes over for the first time – had three rides for the stable at Musselburgh at the end of June, finishing 2-1-1.
Recommendation: Welbury - 5/1 with bet365
