There is rain around Thursday and Friday, although the amount varies with each forecast. Some suggest Sandown and Fontwell will get up to 20mm, while the bottom end is just 1mm.

4:00pm Thirsk - Anyasi

There are twenty runners declared for the six-furlong handicap and the hope is that a draw in stall 20 next to the stands' rail will help the three-year-old ANYASI, who has won both starts so far this term, including on soft ground at Yarmouth back in the spring. The classic generation receive 3lbs from their elders over 6f at this stage of the campaign.

He has been off the track since the first week in July when scoring cosily on fast ground, and his subsequent absence suggests he has been waiting for a bit of ease in the ground.

His opening mark of ninety looks about right, and he gets the vote for Roger Varian although he could be marooned up the stands rail if the field congregates to the centre if conditions ease. Whatever the outcome of today's contest, he strikes me as the type to have a productive autumn although it is difficult for three-year-old sprinters against their elders.

Recommendation: Anyasi - 10/3 with bet365

5:32pm Sedgefield - Thank You Blue (Nap)

Delpotro runs off the same mark as when second at Stratford last time and is only 1lb higher than when winning over course and distance last September. He looks the one to beat, but any significant rain would be a negative.

THANK YOU BLUE (Nap) remains a maiden after ten starts over fences, but has been slowly getting his act together over the larger obstacles and his 2l second to Thickthorn Tom at Worcester last time was his best run yet over fences.

The selection is a course winner here over hurdles - would not mind any worsening of the ground - and is rated 12lbs lower over fences than his hurdle mark.

Recommendation: Thank You Blue (Nap) - 4/1 with bet365

7:00pm Fontwell - Person Of Interest

French import Martin's Denuo has been making hay in the French provinces, winning his last three – two over fences and one over timber – and makes his British debut for David Pipe from an opening mark of 110.

He has form on all ground, and four-year-olds receive 11lbs from their elders. When you add Rhian Corcoran's 5lbs claim, the bottom weight receives 16lbs from top-weight PERSON OF INTEREST – also rated 110 – but I think the latter can give weight and a beating to his five rivals.

The six-year-old won at Downpatrick over fences for Shark Hanlon over 2m3f and also scored at Uttoxeter on his penultimate start over the minimum trip. He made a bad mistake at the last when looking in charge at Stratford last time – note winner Thickthorn Tom was due to run at Newton Abbot on Thursday evening – although he has been raised 5lbs for the run. Harry Cobden keeps the ride for Faye Bramley.

A Little Something is generally a good jumper despite coming down on his last couple of starts, but the mare would not appreciate the forecast rain. If conditions stay on top, she has every chance but looks ground dependent.

Recommendation: Person Of Interest
