4:45pm Beverley - Saxon Grace

SAXON GRACE really ought to be chasing a quick hat-trick as she got going all too late when a staying-on third at Hamilton on her penultimate run on her first start at a distance (1m1f) beyond seven furlongs.

She made no mistake when running away with a 1m Redcar handicap at the weekend and a 6lbs penalty – due to go up another pound from Saturday – may not prevent her following up. It wasn't much of a race at Redcar but, now that connections have found her right trip, it will be disappointing if she cannot follow up.

She was held up out the back to get the trip at Hamilton but raced more prominently at Redcar, and she is well drawn in stall two if Shane Grey wants to go forward on the filly.

David O'Meara's yard is flying at present, and I will be looking to see if there is support for Ten Sixty Six, given she started the year running off a stone higher mark. Her early two-year-old form was not that of a 53-rated filly. It looks as though she has not trained on, but the yard made a slow start to the campaign and are now banging in the winners.

Recommendation: Saxon Grace - 7/4 with bet365

6:41pm Windsor - Colourband (Nap)

Billy Loughnane is booked for the French import Mia Sunshine, who won twice in the French provinces for Francis-Henri Graffard and makes her British debut for Mikey Bowen this evening. She had wind surgery at the beginning of the year and cost her new connections €130,000 in December.

She is bred to be smart, and there is no reason she won't be effective on this sound surface, although this will be the fastest ground she has encountered. A check of the market is advised, although the booking of Loughnane suggests connections have her spot on first time.

I am looking forward, however, to seeing COLOURBAND (Nap) – fitted with a tongue-tie for the first time – drop back down to a mile. I know his Novice win at Bath came at 10f, but he again hinted that 8f could be his optimum when he travelled powerfully but was outstayed from a 2lbs lower mark.

Well drawn in stall two, he will need a decent gallop back down in distance, but Clouds Hill is likely to make it a decent test although he looks the only confirmed front-runner in the field and may get an uncontested lead.

Recommendation: Colourband (Nap) - 5/2 with bet365

6:28pm Lingfield - Midnight's Dream (Each-Way)

The surface at Lingfield was deep and kickback severe on Monday, and I vowed to put a line through the form. We put up a couple of selections, and both struggled, and I thought there may be an advantage running well off the rail.

There are a couple of last-time-out winners in the field in the 7f handicap, but I have had my eye on MIDNIGHT'S DREAM (Each-Way) for a couple of runs now, and he gets the each-way vote for Joseph Parr.

The five-year-old is making his course debut at Lingfield but has run two excellent races in defeat at Wolverhampton of late despite having desperate draws. The hope is that his middle draw is a help tonight and Dan Muscutt takes over in the plate for the first time for Joseph Parr, who owns this ex-Roger Varian-trained gelding who cost previous owners King Power 125,000 gns as a yearling and is a stone below his highest winning mark.

Recommendation: Midnight's Dream (Each-Way) - 12/1 with bet365 (4 places)
