Charlie McCann’s Horse Racing Tips For Thursday, 4 June - Hamilton, Uttoxeter & Leopardstown
Charlie heads to Leopardstown on Thursday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.com.
3:21pm Hamilton - Pearl Eye & Draupnir
The ground at Hamilton was described as good – good to firm in places – yesterday morning, but there is significant heavy rain forecast for the track on Wednesday and Thursday morning, and conditions – if the forecast is correct – will be no better than soft come post time for today's card.
I am hopeful that the layers will not pay much attention to the forecast as I will back a couple in the first 1m1f handicap who will not be inconvenienced if the rain arrives, namely PEARL EYE and DRAUPNIR.
Pearl Eye has never won over nine furlongs but has scored over Beverley's stiff 8.5f and has dropped to a mark 12lbs lower than when scoring at Doncaster last March over a mile on good to soft ground. The six-year-old was doing his best work late on when fourth over today's trip at Ayr last time, when well supported, and Jim Goldie has his string in excellent form.
The six-year-old is having just his third start for his new stable this afternoon, and Goldie has booked Paul Mulrennan, which is a positive. He has won on fast ground in the past, but four of his six career wins have come on ground described as good to soft or slower.
Draupnir wore a hood last time, but that is quickly dispensed with as he fell out of the stalls over course and distance and was never competitive. Regular pilot Billy Garrity returns to the plate, and he has stamina to prove – sole win came over 7f on soft ground – but he was doing all his best work late on last time, and he is bred to appreciate at least nine furlongs.
Recommendations: Pearl Eye - 5/2 with bet365 & Draupnir - 9/2 with bet365
3:30pm Uttoxeter - That’s Nice
There is rain forecast at Uttoxeter, which tempers confidence in Wheresmemoneygone (4:30pm).With Tyson unlikely to take up the engagement, given he was declared for Warwick over 3m2f+ on Wednesday evening, I hope to see Ben Jones make all on the seven-year-old, but he does need good ground and cannot be recommended until we see how much rain there is overnight and on Thursday morning.
Three of the four mares who face the starter in the extended 3m chase have stamina to prove, including THAT'S NICE, who will be ridden by the owner's new retained jockey, Harry Cobden, for the first time this afternoon.
A winner of her sole point in her native Ireland over 3m, the six-year-old won two of her three hurdle starts and has shaped with promise over fences, although she has not looked the strongest of stayers over the trip. Her breeding suggests that three miles is likely to stretch her stamina, but she ran well until giving best going to the last in a stronger race over course and distance last time from a 2lbs higher mark.
Queens Wish is the one mare proven at the distance, but she must put behind a poor effort at Southwell last month. Robbie Dunne takes over in the plate for the first time, but the yard of Adam & Charlie Pogson had two runners run poorly at Southwell on Tuesday. She is back down to the mark from which she won, also back in November, but stable form is an issue.
Recommendation: That's Nice - 2/1 with bet365
8:00pm Leopardstown - Harana (Each-Way) (Nap)
HARANA (Each-Way) (Nap) is out of a Group 3 7f winner but is a half-sister to the Derby winner Harzand. The dam has produced winners from 7 to 12f (also 2m5f over timber), but this lightly raced filly did not seem to get home when third at Roscommon on her seasonal debut over 12f last month in first-time cheekpieces.
The daughter of Ghaiyyath finished second, beaten 6l on her sole juvenile start behind the ninety-six-rated Gotomylovely, and is open to further improvement after just two starts. Ten furlongs is likely to be her optimum distance, but the hope is that this stiff track will suit. It will be disappointing if she is still rated in the mid-seventies when her racing career is over.
Dermot Weld has had two winners – including the hugely exciting Purview – from his last four runners, and the selection has a good draw in stall sixteen. It is possible that her lack of experience will tell in this competitive 16-runner heat, but that is a chance I am prepared to take.
Diamond Exchange is likely to head the market and she, too, is dropping in distance, having won over ten furlongs here last month from a 4lbs lower mark. He looked ready for a step back up in trip to my eyes on that occasion, and I will be surprised if he has enough pace for the drop back in trip.
Recommendation: Harana (Nap) (Each-Way) - 7/1 with bet365 (5 places)
