Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron 2
It’s the rematch we’ve all been waiting for — but perhaps not Ben Whittaker?
Last October in Saudi Arabia, an original meeting between these two light-heavyweights ended in a technical draw after Whittaker sustained an injury after both fighters fell out of the ring.
The incident happened in round six, and with the scorecards at the time unable to split the fighters, a draw was announced.
Talk turned to a rematch immediately.
Cameron surprised many by how competitive he was across the six rounds in Riyadh, prompting a few onlookers to raise eyebrows when Whittaker accepted the rematch.
Whittaker comes into Sunday’s fight in Birmingham as a 4/11 FAV with bet365 but the Olympic silver medalist isn’t expected to have an easy night’s work.
And how many rounds will the fight be scheduled for?
Cameron signed for a 12-rounder, but Whittaker’s team have now seemingly disputed this and claim the fight was always supposed to be a 10-rounder.
As time ticks closer to fight night, how was this all unravel in what is shaping up to be a spicy rivalry at 175 pounds?

Ben Whittaker to win by Decision/Technical Decision vs Liam Cameron
Ben Whittaker is big business for Boxer and Sky Sports.
You could argue that he is fortunate not to have a loss on his record following last October’s fight, but he has also shown heart in taking this rematch when he could have just moved in another direction.
Whittaker is flashy, quick, moves well, but is still adapting to the pro game.
He’s got a new coach in his corner in the experienced Andy Lee, and a few tweaks in his approach should see him navigate a route past Cameron.
Cameron is as gutsy as they come and in his come-forward style had some good success against Whittaker.
But he won’t be a surprise package for Whittaker this time around, and with some elite level voices in his corner, Whittaker should be able to take this on the cards and look good doing so.
He might have to weather a few storms in the early rounds, but once he finds a rhythm, Whittaker should be able to canter to the finish line.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron – Over 8.5 Rounds
It’s hard to envisage either Whittaker or Cameron getting stopped in this one.
Cameron has been through bigger struggles outside of the ring than anything he has faced inside it, and the pride he has in himself will surely see him to the final bell.
Whether that final bell comes after the 10th or the 12th we’ll have to wait and see… but it’s a fight that looks destined to go the distance either way.
