EFL Tips: 55/1 Longshot Acca
Here are Gab's five tips for the weekend along with the best prices and latest odds from our top sports betting sites.
Norwich vs Birmingham - Norwich to win
Norwich have taken 31 points from 20 games since Phillipe Clement took charge; a fantastic turnaround, from a side that had lost eight of their opening 12 under Liam Manning.
The Belgian has set new standards at Carrow Road, and the summer signings made under Ben Knapper’s sporting directorship are starting to look less like the lost cause they were initially perceived as.
With five wins in their last six league games, the Canaries look transformed with Ruairi McConville, Ali Ahmed and Mohamed Toure all in sizzling form, with the latter bagging a hat-trick in the 3-0 victory at Oxford last time out.
Birmingham have also improved off the back of positive January business, but their away form remains the Achilles’ heel for Chris Davies’ side, who have taken 15 points from 16 road trips.
Mansfield vs Lincoln - Lincoln to win
Lincoln moved eight points clear in the automatic promotion race in League One in midweek, thanks to a 4-0 thumping of Northampton.
Quick and incisive, Michael Skubala’s side can cut teams open on turnovers, a feature of their game that’s only got stronger since loaning Ryan One from Sheffield United.
The wide forward not only has explosive pace, but he’s also got some nice flicks and tricks in his locker, neat link-up play and clever movement, making him a real thorn in the opposition – and somebody with serious potential.
Hosts Mansfield hoped for the same impact from Tottenham loanee Oli Irow, but the Tottenham loanee has struggled with the physicality of senior football in his first experience, and hasn’t built on a stunning brace in his debut, a 3-0 victory over Port Vale.
Since then, the Stags have bagged themselves a glamour FA Cup tie with Arsenal at Field Mill, but they’re also winless in six in the league, and come into this game off the back of successive defeats.
Peterborough vs Exeter - Peterborough to win
Peterborough have scored more goals than three of the top six in League One, and boast two of the most exciting attacking talents in the division, in Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Kyrell Lisbie.
The Posh might not quite be ready to find the consistency they need to finish in the top six this year, but Luke Williams is building a promising young side, so optimism is high for what could be possible in 2026-27.
Visitors Exeter are only four points worse off than their hosts with two games in hand, but the medium and long-term picture for the Devonians is very different.
Off-field problems have contributed to Gary Caldwell’s exit, after the Scot worked wonders to keep them comfortably safe in League One for four years, and now there’s fear that the financial troubles could start to affect things on the pitch.
Not to mention, City are winless in five and still have work to do to secure their League One status.
Colchester vs Barnet - Barnet to win
Colchester’s Play-Off hopes took a massive hit when Micah Mbick, arguably the most talented prospect in League Two, got injured.
The Charlton loanee, who scored 40+ goals for three different youth age groups in 2023-24 before featuring in the Play-Off Final last season, had posed a huge threat with his pace, power and willingness to run in behind.
Replacing Mbick has been Will Goodwin, who is a conventional target man and can’t do the same things, which has affected how Danny Cowley’s sides are able to play.
Mbick’s absence means Barnet can afford to hold a high line, which could help them dictate proceedings in the way they want, and offer service to their key wide men, Ryan Glover and Idris Kanu – if those two are on their game, the Bees have a good chance of continuing their positive away record.
Notts County vs Tranmere - Notts County to win
Despite having reached the Play-Offs last season, there wasn’t a huge amount of confidence emanating from the Notts County fanbase before this season, so it’s come as a surprise that they’re in the top seven once again, eight points clear of 8th.
The Magpies have two of the best defenders in League Two in Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau, a midfielder with higher level nous in Oli Norburn, a star wing-back when fit in Jodi Jones, a sparkling Huddersfield loanee in Tom Iorpenda in attacking midfield, and two top strikers in Matthew Dennis and Alassana Jatta.
Plus, they’ve added to that by signing one of the best shot-stoppers in League Two in James Belshaw, who has been hugely influential for Harrogate in recent seasons, and is a Magpie himself.
Visitors Tranmere, on the other hand, needed a 2-0 victory over strugglers Crawley to interrupt a six-match losing streak, but Andy Crosby’s injury-hit side, seemingly destined for lower midtable, lost again at home to Accrington Stanley in midweek.
