Everton vs Liverpool Predictions, Premier League Betting Tips & Odds

The battle for European places is starting to heat up and Everton could be entering the Champions League chat if they can win the first Merseyside derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
A return of 10 points from the last five league matches means the Toffees start the weekend in eighth and they could end the weekend just two points behind fifth-placed Liverpool if they can best Arne Slot’s side.
For the Reds, they will end this season trophyless after being knocked out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, an outcome made all the worse by a serious injury to Hugo Ekitike.
Less than a year ago, Liverpool were poised to win the title. Now, all they have to play for is European qualification, and Sunday’s clash sets up as a test of the Reds’ mettle.
Everton vs Liverpool Tips
Check out our betting tips for Sunday’s Merseyside derby and the best free bet offers for the clash.
Tip 1: Everton draw no bet
Despite losing five of the last six away games in all competitions, Liverpool are pretty strong favourites on the majority of betting sites.
The Reds are a best-price of 13/10, while Everton are 23/10 to record a third successive home win at their new ground.
The Toffees look to be catching Liverpool at the perfect time. They’ve just lost their top scorer to injury and last weekend's win over Fulham aside, it’s been a tough run for the Reds since the international break.
Alexander Isak has made a welcome return from injury recently, but is way off the pace in terms of match sharpness.
At the back, Liverpool have been shipping goals with regularity, conceding in at least once in eight of their last 10 games.
This sets up as a bigger game for Everton, being the first derby at the Hill Dickinson, and they have some momentum after recent results.
The likes of James Garner, Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Beto are all enjoying good spells as part of a team that has a clear identity under David Moyes.
The only thing holding us back from going all-in on Everton is the long-running trend for this game to end in a draw. 10 of the last 13 Merseyside derbies at Everton have ended all square, so going draw no bet gives punters a bit of insurance.
Tip 2: Over 1.5 second half goals
This fixture has seen its fair share of late drama, with James Tarkowski’s stunning equaliser last season seeing him join the likes of Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge and Dan Gosling in having made a telling impact as the clock wound down in the derby.
The stats for both sides suggest we could see more last-minute antics with only Newcastle (18) having conceded more goals than Liverpool (15) in the final 15 minutes of Premier League games this season.
Football betting sites are well aware of the tendency for Slot’s men to be breached late in games and punters will be lucky to get more than 5/6 on a goal being scored after the 80th minute.
A better option might be to back over 1.5 second half goals at odds-against. A whopping 61.5 per cent of Liverpool’s goals have come in the second half of games this season, while 33 per cent of all Everton’s league goals have been scored after the 75th minute.
Over 1.5 second half goals has clicked in six of Everton’s last eight games and catches the eye once more.
Tip 3: Under 4.5 cards, Rio Ngumhoa over 0.5 shots on target & James Garner to score or assist
Chris Kavanagh will be the man charged with keeping control over the derby and he’s well known to the Liverpool players having officiated six of their games already this season.
He hasn’t shown a card to anyone in red on his last two appointments, although that’s not a huge surprise given Liverpool are one of the best behaved sides in the league.
Everton’s discipline has been good recently, avoiding a yellow card in three of the last four games, and there’s the potential that this won’t be a card-heavy derby.
Rio Ngumhoa looks like being one of a handful of players to emerge from Liverpool’s poor season with his stock raised and whether he starts this game or not, he carries a significant threat.
He managed three shots in less than half an hour against PSG, hitting the target once, and has had a shot on target in each of his last three starts.
Completing our football betting tips is James Garner, one of the league’s most in-form midfielders. He’s pushing hard for a spot in England’s World Cup squad and can make a significant impact with a fourth goal contribution in his last six Everton outings.
