Sporting CP vs Arsenal Champions League Tips, Predictions & Odds

Arsenal will aim to clamber off the canvas when they head to Lisbon on Tuesday evening to face Sporting CP in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The Gunners will have been licking their wounds after a shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Southampton in the last eight over the weekend.

Sporting CP vs Arsenal Tips
But can they bounce back against an in-form Sporting? Our preview has some tasty betting tips to savour.
Tip 1: Arsenal to Win & Both Teams to Score
Only a couple of weeks ago, Arsenal were talked up as contenders to complete a clean sweep and claim an unprecedented quadruple.
However, they were flat against Manchester City last month in the League Cup Final, slumping to a 2-0 loss, and against Southampton last weekend, there was plenty of nervous tension surrounding Mikel Arteta’s side.
Although Sporting have won their past three matches on the trot in all competitions, they looked susceptible at the back last weekend in the Portuguese Liga against Santa Clara despite a 4-2 win.
Sporting are the weakest team left in the Champions League, and the Gunners boast a robust record against their opponents (W2 D3) in European competition.
Moreover, Arsenal have lost only one of their past 11 matches in UEFA contests against Portuguese opposition (W5 D5). The signs are pointing to an Arsenal win, and I expect them to produce the perfect riposte after a disappointing couple of weeks.
Tip 2: First Team to Score (Sporting)
Bar the tepid start against Santa Clara, Sporting have generally come firing out of the blocks in recent weeks.
Inevitably, there will be plenty of pressure on the Gunners, and there is a fear that Gabriel may sit this game out after he was forced off against Southampton with an injury and was captured with ice strapped on his knee.
Backed by a raucous crowd, Sporting could ask plenty of questions, with Luis Suarez (no, not the ex-Liverpool forward!) a real menace, scoring in each of Sporting’s past three home Champions League matches.
For my second tip, I’m going with Sporting to take the lead, perhaps against the run of play, to make the contest fascinating.
Tip 3: First Goal (Sporting), Over 11.5 Corners, Viktor Gyokeres Over 1.5 Shots on Target
To begin my bet builder, I’m going with Sporting to make a strong start and open the scoring which is worth leaning into.
Arsenal’s expertise from corners is well-documented, and two of the past three meetings with Sporting have seen the Over 10.5 corners line surpassed. I’ve been a bit bolder and gone with Over 11.5 corners.
Round things off with Viktor Gyokeres to play a prominent role against his former employers, and Over 1.5 shots on target seems fair.
