PGA Championship Betting Tips, Predictions & Odds

The PGA Championship heads to Aronimink Golf Club this week, and it feels like the perfect stage for a major. Big-name field, old-school course, and a layout that asks every question imaginable without turning the tournament into a survival test. Aronimink hasn’t hosted this championship since Gary Player won here in 1962, but nobody should mistake this for an easy old-fashioned layout.
Donald Ross designs always seem to create proper major championship golf, and Aronimink is no different. The fairways aren’t impossibly narrow, but they twist, slope and bend enough to make players think twice on the tee. Hit the wrong side, and suddenly you’re dealing with awkward lies, blocked angles and thick rough that looks nasty enough to wreck a scorecard in a hurry.
The course itself is not outrageously long by modern standards at just under 7,400 yards for a par 70, but the protection comes elsewhere. There are bunkers scattered across seemingly every landing zone, huge elevated greens with severe contours, and a set of long par 3s that are going to wear players down over four days. The putting surfaces are enormous, but that doesn’t make them straightforward. Miss in the wrong place and even two-putting starts to feel like an achievement.
What makes Aronimink so compelling is the constant temptation to attack. A few of the shorter par 4s invite aggression, while the two par 5s offer scoring opportunities, but there’s danger hanging around nearly every bold decision. That balance should make for brilliant viewing because players won’t be able to simply coast their way around the place.
Weather could play a major role too. Early rain should leave the greens receptive at the beginning of the week, but if the wind picks up over the weekend as forecast, Aronimink could suddenly become a very different challenge by Sunday afternoon.
The PGA Championship sometimes sits in the shadow of the other majors, but this week has all the ingredients to stand out. A classic venue, a stacked field, and a course demanding quality ball-striking from start to finish. Drive it well and control your irons, and chances will come. Miss your spots, and Aronimink has plenty of ways to make life difficult.

Tip 1: Winner - Patrick Cantlay (Each-Way)
Many are probably sick of backing Patrick Cantlay in majors by now, and understandably so. For a player with his level of talent, the returns have been underwhelming far too often. Even so, there comes a point where the price starts to look too big to ignore, especially with his game moving in the right direction again heading into Aronimink.
His recent performances have been quietly promising. Cantlay recovered brilliantly from a terrible start at Augusta to finish 12th, followed that with another solid week at the Heritage, and then produced his best Quail Hollow result in years last time out.
He’s driving the ball with far more conviction again, the iron play appears much tighter, and his short game remains one of the safest among the elite players. The putter still hasn’t properly warmed up either, which suggests there may still be another gear available if a few more chances start dropping.
There should also be plenty about Aronimink that plays into his strengths. The course places a premium on discipline into the greens and staying composed when conditions get awkward, both areas that tend to suit Cantlay nicely. Add in previous competitive rounds at the venue and he looks capable of giving himself a genuine chance.
Tip 2: Russell Henley (Each-Way)
Russell Henley is no longer the type of player who sneaks onto major leaderboards unnoticed. At this point, seeing him contend in one of the big four is becoming a regular occurrence. His third-place finish at Augusta was another reminder of how at ease he now looks against the very best, and it continues a hugely impressive spell in majors over the last couple of seasons.
Aronimink could easily bring out his strengths. This isn’t simply a course where players can smash driver everywhere without consequence, and Henley’s precision from the tee should become a major asset once the rough and awkward angles come into play. He’s also one of the sharper iron players from mid-range distances, an area that could prove crucial here. There’s also the Donald Ross factor. Henley has repeatedly produced quality golf on Ross layouts and arrives with the
Tip 3: Winner - Chris Gotterup (Each-Way)
Chris Gotterup caught the eye with a strong effort at the Truist Championship. He finished 14th there, but the standout element was how well he played across the weekend, particularly with the irons.
The big hitter has developed into a much more rounded player over the last year. The power off the tee was always there, but the approach play has taken a noticeable leap forward and that’s helped him become far more competitive in tournaments of this calibre. Aronimink should reward that combination of length and assertive iron play.
He’s also beginning to look increasingly suited to major championship golf, with respectable finishes now stacking up across his last few appearances.
Tip 4: Winner - JJ Spaun (Each-Way)
JJ Spaun makes plenty of appeal here. He’s not going to bully the course into submission, but this setup should reward thoughtful golf. Spaun has been finding fairways, flushing his irons and arrives in excellent shape after another productive stretch this spring.
His recent fifth-place finish at Quail Hollow was especially encouraging given that the venue doesn’t naturally suit his game, yet he still gained heavily tee-to-green. Aronimink looks a much cleaner fit stylistically and his measured approach could become a major advantage here.
Tip 5: Matt McCarty (Each-Way)
Matt McCarty is beginning to look very comfortable at this level. Since Augusta he’s pieced together a really steady run, backing up his Masters performance with another sequence of high finishes against stacked fields, including top-10s at both the Cadillac and Truist.
The biggest improvement has been how refined his long game now appears. His iron play has been excellent for several weeks and he’s creating plenty of birdie looks without needing to depend on a ridiculous putting display. That style of golf could translate nicely to Aronimink.
