Charlie McCann's Horse Racing Tips Tuesday, 4 August - Ffos Las, Catterick & Lingfield
Charlie heads to Lingfield on Tuesday for his best bet

It's a busy day of racing action in the UK and Ireland, and Charlie McCann is here with his exclusive free horse racing tips - only at FreeBets.
5:00pm Ffos Las - Mythological Star
Hurricane Laughter faded tamely at Epsom over their extended mile from a 1lb higher mark, although he has been sent off 10/3 and 5/1 in his two handicap starts and is obviously considered well treated by connections.
MYTHOLOGICAL STAR is a half-brother to the Kubler's Astro King – rated 102 – and he makes his handicap and turf debut from an opening mark of seventy-two. He gave the impression he would get further than a mile when finishing best of all when third on polytrack at Lingfield last month, and Billy Loughnane takes over in the saddle for the first time. Do note there are thunderstorms forecast for the area, and Astro King did not go on soft ground, although some of the selection's other relatives did/do go with plenty of cut.
At the time of writing, the selection was entered in a 10f Novice event at Yarmouth on Wednesday evening, which suggests connections also believe he will stay further than a mile, but this looks a very winnable looking race. That said, there is no guaranteed pace in the race, and I wonder if Loughnane will go forward if the gallop is sedate.
Irish import Gelato improved for the step up to 7f+ here last time when scoring from a 7lbs lower mark on soft ground. The filly looks vulnerable from her new mark, but her ability to cope with soft ground is a plus given the forecast.
Recommendation: Mythological Star - 11/4 with bet365
I'm looking forward to seeing the racecourse debut of the first foal of Arc winner Alpinista – by Dubawi - A La Montagne, who starts off in the valuable seven-furlong Novice.
It will be interesting to see if the market speaks in her favour and she holds no fancy entries at this stage, although I don't know if races such as the Fillies' Mile have early closing entries at this stage.
3:15pm Catterick - Slack Alice
SLACK ALICE makes the journey north from Mikey Bowen's base in South Wales for the 2m handicap, and the mare looks fairly treated, reverting to the flat having won her last couple over hurdles.
She has twice finished fourth – including over course and distance – from higher marks on ground with plenty of cut, but her two recent 3m hurdle successes came on better ground. Luke Morris takes over in the plate on the mare who likes to race prominently, and the forecast ground – described as a mix of good and good to firm on Monday morning – looks ideal with only a small chance of a passing shower on raceday.
The five-year-old has the worst of the draw in stall nine, but the hope is that Morris can get the mare into a prominent position passing the judge. Many in the field have stamina to prove, and I would like to see the filly on or up with the lead as they pass the post with a circuit to run.
Recommendation: Slack Alice - 9/4 with SpreadEx
7:18pm Lingfield - Tabasko (Nap)
The three older horses in the 1m6f handicap are all winners at the trip, while the three-year-old filly TABASKO (Nap) must still prove her stamina despite the fact that she was only beaten half a length over two miles at Doncaster in a three-runner event last time.
That race was run at a crawl and turned into a four-furlong sprint, but the selection had previously finished second at Epsom – the winner disappointed at Chester on Sunday – over a mile-and-a-half. Ashley Lewis takes off a valuable 5lbs, and there is enough stamina in her pedigree to suggest she should thrive at the trip.
Russian Rumour races from the same mark as when successful back in the spring and is, indeed, 2lbs lower than when beaten a length-and-a-half over course and distance back in May. She looks sure to run her race, but she is three times the age of the selection and must give the filly 15lbs.
Recommendation: Tabasko (Nap) - Evens with bet365
