Plymouth v Sunderland Match Preview
Sunderland have won each of their opening four league games, three of which coming by a margin of more than one goal.
The Black Cats are oozing with potential: they possess one of the top goalkeepers in the Championship in Anthony Patterson, and one of the best centre-backs in fit again Dan Ballard, once dubbed a young Tony Adams at Arsenal.
Left-back Dennis Cirkin is enjoying the form of his career, Romaine Mundle has stepped up admirably so far to Jack Clarke’s mantle, while in 17-year-old Chris Rigg, the Wearsiders boast one of the country’s most precocious talents.
Elsewhere, the striker situation looks stronger with Wilson Isidor and Ahmed Abdullahi arriving to produce competition for Eliezer Mayenda, who has settled after a quiet debut campaign with two goals and two assists, while Patrick Roberts out wide is rekindling his sparkling 2022-23 form.
All in all, Sunderland should be too strong for Plymouth Argyle, who have begun with two points from their first four.
Wayne Rooney’s side went into the international break off the back of their best performance so far, but even that resulted in a 1-0 home defeat to Stoke.
