Royal Ascot Ground Conditions Firm Up on Monday
As Royal Ascot 2025 commence, the going has been officially updated to good to firm, good in places, following a dry night and rising temperatures.
Clerk of the course Chris Stickels confirmed the change on Monday morning, noting that the ground had quickened from its previous state of good, good to firm.
With forecasts predicting temperatures soaring up to 28°C later in the week, the Ascot team is implementing a careful watering strategy to maintain optimal racing conditions.

Stickels stated, "We're watering the straight course today with volumes to be confirmed shortly as we have horses exercising on the track right now, and we'll probably put a spot on the round course to keep the moisture in. The plan would be to put a little bit on each night, with the idea of maintaining good to firm"
The weather outlook remains predominantly dry, with only a slight chance of thunderstorms towards the latter part of the week. While this is only a slight chance, make sure you monitor, as if it happened, thunderstorms and rain on top of already watered ground could bring chaos for horse racing betting sites and punters, with so much to think about.
This dry spell necessitates ongoing monitoring and potential nightly watering to preserve the turf for those racing at the end of the week.
