Team GB Medal Odds: How Many Medals Will Team GB Win in Paris 2024?

We are a week away from the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and less than a week away from competitions such as the football and rugby sevens getting underway.
Excitement is building, and with teams set, and participants known other than any last minute injuries, betting sites have now put together plenty of betting markets for the games.
Team GB Medal Odds
Team GB is the focus here, and we are looking at their overall medal chances, with three markets on offer, an over/under on total medals, plus outright markets to win the most medals and most gold medals, where we are big outsiders, but you never know what will happen at a one-off spectacle such as the Olympics.
The hope is that Team GB will be able to record their best ever Olympic total away from home this summer, with a big team, and while the number of gold medal hopes may be a little smaller than usual, there’s plenty in with a chance of grabbing another medal, and over the games, they will add up.

Team GB Over/Under 64.5 Total Medals
The betting line for the total number of Team GB medals is bang in line with where they have been for the past two Olympics.
In Tokyo last time, they recorded 64 medals, before that in Rio in 2016, an overseas best of 67. Beating that is the target that has been set this time around, and they will need to go a little over this betting line to do so.
Looking at the odds with Star Sports, they have this market priced up at 1/1 for over 64.5 and 8/11 for under 64.5. it’s a two-way market, with the .5 being added to total to prevent a draw, essentially over 64.5 is 65 or more, and under 64.5 is 64 or less.
Team GB Over/Under 16.5 Gold Medals
Moving on and looking specifically at gold medals here, the line for this market is sat at 16.5, which means that the bookmakers are guessing around 25% of the Team GB medals will be gold medals.
This like is another that looks to be about right, and it’s due to the lack of real star performers, and big favourites on the Team GB roster this time around.
Star Sports have priced this market up with over as the very slight favourite, over 16.5 gold medals is 4/5 while under 16.5 gold medals is priced at 10/11, so almost identical.
Team GB to Win Most Medals
It’s unrealistic to think team GB can win the most medals at this Olympics, and the betting shows that, Star Sports have them priced up at 66/1 to win the most medals.
They finished fourth on the table in Tokyo last time out, and that’s where they will be aiming for once again. The betting has them as joint fourth/fifth best with France, so that lines up with expectations.
Japan are third favourites in this market, if Team GB can get ahead of both them and France, to finish 3rd overall, then that would be a good over achievement by the team.
Leading the betting, we have Team USA at 1/18 to win the most medals, and then China at 10/1 as the second favourites.
Team GB to Win Most Golds
In a similar position and line up of names, the chances for Team GB to win the most golds are also very slim, with a high price of 100/1 available with Star Sports on this particular market.
Again, Team USA head the betting, followed by China, and then we have France, Japan and Team GB in that order, but with little to choose between them.
Just as I said with the total medals, finishing 3rd here would be a great result and over achievement for the team.
Team GB Best Medal Chances at Paris 2024
Good hauls of medals are expected in events such as swimming, cycling, athletics and rowing, as is often the case, but stand out contenders, and favourites for gold medals are pretty thin on the ground.
team cycling and rowing events are seemingly the best chances of a gold medal, while of course, don’t rule out a good boxing meet, as we always tend to do well there.
If you’re looking for a couple of smaller names to follow, then you may be best off heading to the canoe slalom track. Joe Clarke in the men’s event and Kimberley Woods in the women’s event both look to have strong gold medal chances, it’s not a sport that gets too much coverage, but these two are on course to help with that.
Elsewhere, a sport dominated by the Brownlee bothers, the triathlon, may have a new hero as Alex Yee looks set to go close in the men’s event, after grabbing a silver medal at Tokyo.
Lastly, the men’s golf event is going to be one of the biggest of the Olympics, and we have Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick represented Team GB, both more than capable of winning a big event on their day, and both currently ranked inside the top 20.
