Keyshawn Davis to beat Denys Berinchyk by Decision/Technical Decision
A world title fight in just your 13th professional outing is still seen as a bit of a rarity in boxing, but Keyshawn Davis has shown enough already since turning over in 2021 to suggest he is ready to step up.
Despite this lack of experience in a big headline event, Davis is 11 years fresher than the Ukrainian world champion, and it's impossible to ignore that Father Time is around the corner for Denys Berinchyk.
Davis is extremely skilled and has shown technical brilliance throughout his amateur and pro careers. He is able to hold his power in the pocket but can often be accused of proving his chin in unnecessary exchanges – something that the champion will be looking to take advantage of.
Berinchyk is tough, smart, and physical as a lightweight and will be relying on his high energy and movement to drag Davis into the trenches.
If Davis is able to remain patient and time his attacks, then the American should be able to grab the gold in New York.
Reece Bellotti to beat Michael Gomez Jr by KO/TKO
34-year-old Reece Bellotti has been written off time and time again in his career.
The “Bomber” has five losses on his slate, but since back-to-back-to-back defeats to the likes of Ray Ford, Jordan Gill and Francesco Grandelli, has strung together an impressive run of five victories.
This Indian Summer to his career doesn’t look like coming to an abrupt end, as the British and Commonwealth champion at super-featherweight continues to over-perform.
Michael Gomez Jr was touted as a hot prospect a few years ago thanks to his famous fighting father, but hasn’t kicked on in his career the way many expected.
A recent win over Kane Baker has catapulted him into this position, but Bellotti is as experienced as they come in this domestic division and he could well add to his 74% KO rate.
Jack Catterall to beat Arnold Barboza Jr by Decision/Technical Decision
At 43% (Catterall) and 35% (Barboza Jr) neither man can boast that one-punch KO power that can change the course of a fight with one swing.
So, with that in mind, momentum, smarts and pressure throughout the 36 minutes of scheduled combat on Saturday night will ultimately decide who is to exit the Co-op Live Arena with their hand raised.
Catterall is a crafty southpaw that has proved very hard to hit throughout his career.
The 31-year-old boxes smoothly off the back foot without ever over-committing, and with four shut-out wins on the spin (including hurting Prograis several times), is making a name for himself as the man in the division to nullify attacks.
Barboza will enjoy the edge in reach, but his unbeaten record could well be a bit of a red-herring.
The American was gifted a decision against Sean McComb last year and was pretty uninspiring in his 10-round UD win over Jose Ramirez in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November.
Barboza is able to throw some eye-catching combinations but in a fight where his eyes need to be glued to the gloves of Catterall, it's hard to imagine the away fighter getting too many pockets of success.
