Weekend Boxing Betting Tips
Luis Alberto Lopez to beat Angelo Leo by Decision/Technical Decision
Luis Alberto Lopez will have to contend with a raucous home crowd in Albuquerque if he is going to defend his IBF world featherweight title this weekend.
Since losing to Ruben Villa in 2019, Luis Alberto Lopez has gone on a 13-0 rampage beating an impress array of champions and former champions including Josh Warrington, Michael Conlan and Joet Gonzalez.
There’s a seriously strong argument to suggest Lopez is the number one in the 126-pound division and a comprehensive win over top-10 contender Angelo Leo will cement this.
Leo is three fights into the featherweight division after moving on from super-bantamweight waters but is swimming into a brick wall here.
Leo’s heart and home support could well keep him in the contest until the 12th bell but we’re expecting a lopsided decision for the champion.
Gabriela Fundora to beat Daniela Asenjo by Decision/Technical Decision
It took Gabriela Fundora just 12 fights to become a world champion in the world flyweight division, and we’re not convinced she’s going to give this title up easy.
“Sweet Poison” is from strong boxing pedigree – brother to Sebastian Fundora – and has been pretty faultless so far amassing a 13-0 (6KO) record.
The women’s flyweight division isn’t the deepest of divisions – Saturday’s opponent is 33, and has failed to win six of her 22 pro fights.
But Daniela Asenjo hasn’t been stopped before and we expect this continue in a Fundora clean sweep.
Vergil Ortiz Jr to beat Serhii Bohachuk by KO/TKO/Disqualification
There is zero chance that this fight is a dud. But perhaps don’t quote us on that…
Both Ortiz and Bohachuk are front-foot, attacking fighters who are willing to receive one in order to land two, meaning that this could easily catch fire from the off.
Ortiz is a big puncher and a big lander – 21 KOs in 21 fights is no joke, and once Bohachuk decides to trade with the unbeaten star, then it could well be lights out.
Bohachuk’s only career loss came inside the distance to Brandon Adams in 2021, and despite picking up some solid wins since, the Ukrainian is primed to become the 22nd Ortiz victim in Las Vegas.
If we were forced into prop markets, Rounds 1-6 for an Ortiz stoppage looks good.
