Ascot Tips: Champions Day Best Bets, Predictions & Latest Odds

It's Champions Day at Ascot, and with some top quality racing on offer, a great day looks to be in prospect for punters.
There's seven races on the card, including five Group 1 contests, and the even better news is that every single race is live on ITV.
He's taken a look through the card for us, and has highlighted a bet in all bar the first contest, where we've an odds on favourite.
Ascot Tips: Champions Day Predictions
We've got our resident tipster Alan Kelly with us for Champions Day. He's on Free Bets six days a week, so make sure you come back to view Alan Kelly's tips when you're next looking at the racing!
12:55pm Ascot
The opening race on the card is the Group 1 Long Distance Cup, ran over two miles and has attracted a field of five this year.
Alan's Tip: Impressive Ascot Gold Cup winner Trawlerman should win this race for a second time. However, in what is sure to be a tactical affair, I will pass this one over with the Gosden runner a short price in the betting.
1:30pm Ascot
Next up, we have the Champions Day two year old conditions race, a race that doesn't have group status, but has been won by some good horses in recent years.
Alan's Tip: Rather than favourite Words Of Truth, I would rather back Wathnan Racingโs Division (each-way) at the 11/2 currently available with Paddy Power. After making a promising debut when runner-up at Windsor in August, the Kingman colt is now unbeaten in three subsequent starts, the most recent when winning Yorkโs Listed Rockingham Stakes seven days ago.
2:05pm Ascot
The sprinters take centre stage here, with six furlongs the trip for the Champion Sprint bringing together some of the fastest horses in the world.
Alan's Tip: The each-way vote goes to last yearโs winner Kind Of Blue from the James Fanshawe stable. The son of Blue Point reserves his best for this time of the year and did well to finish second to Big Mojo at Haydock after being hampered 2 out before staying-on strongly inside the closing stages.
2:45pm Ascot
The girls are in action in the fourth race on the card, the Group 1 Fillies & Mares Stakes is ran over a distance of 1m4f.
Alan's Tip: Hopefully, there will be enough cut in the ground for David OโMearaโs talented grey Estrange to produce her best form. The daughter of Night Of Thunder had to miss the Arc due to a minor setback, which may prove to be a blessing in disguise for Daniel Tudhopeโs mount.
3:25pm Ascot
Down to one mile for this one, the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, yet another Group 1 contest on this top quality day of racing.
Alan's Tip: ย One horse who reserves his best for Ascot is the James Eustace-trained Docklands, with form figures on the course reading 1-1-3-2-2-2-1.ย A nose winner over Rosallion in the Queen Anne Stakes at the royal meeting, Tom Marquandโs mount, beaten just over a length in Deauvilleโs Prix Jacques le Morois last time, looks decent each-way value against the two principles
4:05pm Ascot
If there's such thing as a feature contest on a card featuring five Group 1's then the Champion Stakes is it, a race over 1m2f, bringing together multiple Group 1 winning horses.
Alan's Tip: I think this potential highlight of the flat season can go to the French for the 6th time this century, courtesy of the trainer jockey combination of Francis-Henri Graffard and Mickael Barzalona, responsible for Arc winner Daryz. The horse in question being the gelding Calandagan, not seen since winning the King George V1 & Queen Elizabeth Stakes on this course during the summer. Beaten half a length by Anmaat in this race 12 months ago on soft ground, the son of Gleneagle should be more at home under todayโs conditions and is fancied to go one better.
4:40pm Ascot
We round off the card with an ultra competitive handicap over the mile distance, with 20 runners set to take part in a real headscratcher for punters.
Alan's Tip: The Charlie Johnston stable won this with The Gatekeeper two years ago and I think it is worth giving his Arisaig another chance to open her account for the season following some excellent efforts in defeat. The daughter of Harry Angel has performed well on previous visits to Ascot, unless scuppered by a poor draw, and has a master of Ascotโs straight course on board in Jamie Spencer.
