Chelsea have quietly turned Stamford Bridge back into something resembling a fortress — 10 wins from their last thirteen league games at home (D2, L1), six of them without conceding a goal.
Sunderland have scored just once on the road in the Premier League so far this campaign, in their 1-0 win away to a struggling Nottingham Forest side, and despite Chelsea’s wobbles — and rotation — at the back, a home clean sheet looks like a good shout.
Tip 2: Marc Guiu to score first - 5/1
You have to think that Chelsea’s only fit striker, Marc Guiu, will be guaranteed a start on Saturday after scoring against Ajax in midweek and getting hooked at half-time.
The 19-year-old has impacted every game he’s made an appearance in so far this season, and with Cole Palmer still out through injury, Joao Pedro may slip back into the number 10 role allowing the Spaniard to lead the line.
Guiu is a busy forward whose biggest strength is occupying opposition defenders, and with eight goals in a limited 22 Chelsea career appearances, it’s about time he was given more trust and time on the pitch.
Guiu made a brief loan to Sunderland this summer before being recalled by the Blues after the Nicholas Jackson-Bayern Munich saga, so he’ll be eager to impress in front of familiar faces.
Tip 3: Granit Xhaka and Noah Sadiki to be shown yellow cards - 11/1
Granit Xhaka and Noah Sadiki are two of the biggest reasons that the Black Cats have started the season so strongly.
The midfield duo are robust and creative in different measures, but will have their work cut out on Saturday afternoon against an expected combination of Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.
Across their last eight combined Sunderland outings, they’ve picked up five yellow cards between them, and with a tricky afternoon expected at Stamford Bridge these numbers could easily grow.
