2024 Swiss Darts Trophy – Favourites
Luke Littler is 3/1 with bet365 to win the Swiss Darts Trophy
Considering the form that the 17-year-old has been in over the past couple of months, it’s very hard to look past Littler for the this European Tour title.
The “Nuke” has won nine titles in nine months of this year, racking up the World Series Finals and Players Championship 20 to his collection in September.
August has been his only blank month, and he’ll be relishing the opportunity to make it a hat-trick in September as he arrives in Basel as the 14th seed.
This seeding will mean that Littler will be on a collision course with world number one Luke Humphries in the third round if both men are successful, seeing a top-heavy draw bracket in Switzerland.
At 3/1, it’s not a surprise that Littler is the betting FAV this weekend.
Luke Humphries is 4/1 with bet365 to win the Swiss Darts Trophy
Suffering losses to players like Mervyn King, Jamie Atkins and Gabriel Clemens over the past week, you’d be forgiven for wondering whether this is the same world number one Luke Humphries that has been taking to the oche.
Sure, it’s not quite a crisis period for “Cool Hand” but he has only won five out of his last 10 matches.
He’s still the second favourite in Basel after an excellent 2024 as a whole, but he might start gaining a reputation of losing deciders if any more games go against him 6-5.
Humphries will start in Switzerland against the winner of Peter Wright and Richard Veenstra – a real potential banana skin in the early rounds with a race to six legs.
4/1 is the price if you think Humphries can add to his haul of titles this weekend.
Gerwyn Price is 9/1 with bet365 to win the Swiss Darts Trophy
It’s four European Tour events in a row now that Gerwyn Price has been dumped out in his first match, so all eyes will be on the “Iceman” in Basel to see if he can break that unfortunate streak.
The Welshman has struggled to advance into the business stages of major TV titles in 2024 but still finds himself as the favourite to reach the final from the bottom half of the draw.
He’s up against either Dimitri van den Bergh or James Wade on Saturday – two nasty possibilities – so a fairly hefty 9/1 call to win the title seems about right.
2024 Swiss Darts Trophy – Best Tips
Dave Chisnall to win the Swiss Darts Trophy at e/w 16/1 with bet365
Thanks to an 8-4 win over Chris Dobey on Wednesday, Dave Chisnall scooped the Players Championship 23 title to make it two for the season for the St. Helens man.
This title also saw Chizzy jump up to number five in the world rankings, and his tail will be up as he attempts to bag his third European Tour title of the season.
There aren’t many players with more experience than the 44-year-old, and despite still waiting for a major TV title after losing six finals, Chisnall is getting to understand that winning feeling.
He has won six European Tour events over the last three years and sitting on the opposite side of the draw to both Lukes (Littler and Humphries) gives him real value at 16/1.
Michael Smith to win the Swiss Darts Trophy e/w at 16/1 with bet365
Another 16/1 shot and a man that is more used to finding himself in the winners enclosure is Michael Smith.
“Bully Boy” has been playing well on the Pro Tour of late averaging up at a consistent 98/99 and is due a good performance in a European Tour event.
Smith has six European Tour titles to his name going back to his first in 2014, so the muscle memory is there for a good display in Basel after a 2024 that hasn’t produced his best darts.
He’ll have to get past Ian White and Stephen Bunting in the early stages of the draw before a potential semi-final meeting with one of the Lukes.
