2025 World Open Snooker Tips, Preview & Odds
We’re off to China for another ranking event on the WST

The Yushan Sports Centre in China takes centre stage on the World Snooker Tour this week as the 2025 World Open rolls into town.
There is a familiar headline story coming out of this 14th ranking event of the season: a late withdrawal from Ronnie O’Sullivan.
“The Rocket” last won this event in 2004, but that barren stretch will go on at least another year with the G.O.A.T going M.I.A once again.
Judd Trump is the favourite and reigning champion heading east, cruising past Ding Junhui 10-4 in last year’s final.
Let’s take a closer look at the event that runs from Sunday 23rd February until Sunday 1st March, plus our best snooker betting offers from the top online bookmakers.
2025 World Open Snooker – Competition Format
After festive qualifying back in December we’re down to the last 64 in China – that’s if you’re willing to ignore the nine qualifying matches that have been held over to be played on the 23rd before the start of the main competition…

2025 World Open Snooker - The Favourites
Check out the favourites to lift the trophy in Yushan this week.
Judd Trump - 11/4 to win the 2025 World Open
When Ronnie withdraws, Judd Trump’s price to win a tournament shortens significantly.
You can understand why – the “Ace in the Pack” is world number one and reigning champion here at the World Open, and his form this season is predictably predictable seeing him scoop ranking titles at the UK Championship and Saudi Arabian Masters.
A withdrawal at the Scottish Open and an early exit at the German Masters means Trump’s recent ranking outings haven’t been spectacular, but already in 2025 he has landed semi-final spots at the Masters and Championship League.
Mark Selby - 5/1 to win the 2025 World Open
Mark Selby’s win at the Welsh Open last week underlined that he is back in and amongst it when it comes to ranking titles.
The “Jester from Leicester” scooped his second title of the season after winning the British Open last September and is a real, real threat in any draw bracket he is thrown into.
He has never won this title and will open his campaign against local Chinese talent Liu Hongyu who is 21 years Selby’s junior.
Kyren Wilson - 6/1 to win the 2025 World Open
Kyren Wilson is probably the form player on the tour at the moment.
The reigning World Champion has won an unmatched three ranking titles this season and finished runner-up at the Masters and Championship League, jumping up to number two in the world rankings.
He is a former finalist from back in 2017 and has to be considered as a threat for the trophy in Yushan.
Mark Allen - 8/1 to win the 2025 World Open
After a rampant couple of years on tour, Mark Allen’s form has plateaued slightly.
He has turned from a serial winner into a serial semi-finalist, getting dumped out at the last four stage in five big tournaments this season.
He is down to number seven in the world rankings, but his pedigree means he is always to be considered a threat in ranking events.
Allen opens up his bid for a 12th ranking title against David Lilley or Cao Jin.

Kyren Wilson to win 4th Quarter
Kyren Wilson’s consistency shouldn’t be slept on this week, and although he may not go all the way to bag the title, you’ve got to think he will have enough form in the locker to get out of his quarter.
John Higgins is the biggest threat but struggling for form, and after Jak Jones and Luca Brecel withdrew, the pool of talent in the bottom section is a little thin on the ground.
Winning Quarter – 1st Quarter
When you look at the top section of the draw, there is more than enough talent to suggest that we could find a winner in Yushan.
Judd Trump needs no further explanation, but Shaun Murphy and Ding Junhui have both shown promising signs of life over the last year, with the former bagging the Masters title at the start of 2025.
Hossein Vafaei is also a sleeping threat despite doubling down on his topsy-turvy form, and there is a plethora of Chinese talent that will have the home contingent on their side.
Mark Selby to Reach the Final
Form and momentum is everything in snooker, and Selby’s run to the Welsh Open title means he will be chomping at the bit to get back on the baize in China.
The 24-time ranking title winner still has plenty of years left in the sport if he desires, making a run for any record that has been set by Ronnie O’Sullivan.
Selby is in the bottom half of the draw and a mouth-watering semi-final clash with Kyren Wilson could await.
