Champions League Tips and Predictions
Lille to win and BTTS - No
Lille got past Fenerbahce in the last round of qualifying, and that was no mean feat given the quality the Turkish side has and of course, Jose Mourinho’s record in Europe. But an impressive result on the road backed up a good win at home and they’ll fancy their chances of beating Slavia Praha in the first leg and putting themselves in pole position to advance.
They got off to a good start in Ligue 1 at the weekend with a 2-0 win and I think they’ll put in another solid performance on Tuesday night.
Bodo/Glimt to win
The Norwegian side have had to go about Champions League qualification the long way round, starting almost a month ago at the end of July and already coming through two ties before this one against Red Star Belgrade.
It will undoubtedly be their toughest test so far and whether or not they progress over the course of the two legs remains to be seen, but they have scored a lot of goals in the last few weeks - 13 in their last five games while conceding four - and home advantage could be enough for them to sneak ahead after this first leg.
Dinamo Zagreb v Qarabag - BTTS
This is another hard one to call, and the form book would suggest Qarabag go into the game in the better shape of the two sides. The Azerbaijan side bounced back from a home defeat to Ludogorets in the last round with a 7-2 thrashing on the road to advance, and in total there have been 25 goals in their last five matches.
There have been lots of goals on both sides, so I’m going to side with BTTS in this first leg.
