Coventry v Sheffield United Match Preview
Frank Lampard is expected to be announced as Coventry City’s new manager this week but, seeing as it’s looking likely to be the second half of the week that he gets unveiled, it may be that it’s a watching brief for the Chelsea legend.
Rhys Carr has done a respectable job in the interim period, overseeing a 2-2 draw at Sunderland following an emotionally challenging week for the club, with the Sky Blues fighting back from two goals behind to earn a point.
The two-week interlude gives the fanbase, and the players, the space they may have needed to process the loss of a club legend in Mark Robins, who oversaw the Midlanders’ most successful period in the modern era, joining the likes of John Sillett and Sir Jimmy Hill as true Coventry greats.
It’ll of course take time, but there’s now a bit more of an appetite for the Sky Blue Army to welcome somebody new into the club.
Nonetheless, it’s a difficult period, so the timing of the fixture may favour Sheffield United, who would be top of the Championship without the two-point deduction that was imposed on them prior to the campaign.
