Crewe v Notts County Match Preview
Crewe have built their promotion push on solid defensive foundations, with Lee Bell’s side having kept six clean sheets in their 14 league games, conceding more than once on just two occasions.
It seems foolhardy then, to bet against the Alex, who’s impeccable consistency at the back has been inspired by the sturdy trio of Jamie Knight-Lebel, Micky Demetriou and Zak Williams, ably supported by wing-backs Ryan Cooney and Max Conway.
Despite the Railwaymen’s solidity, though, Notts County still feel like a step up from their hosts, being one of the top sides in League Two.
The Magpies are far stronger defensively than they were last season, thanks to the additions of Matty Platt and Jacob Bedeau at the back, and can still create a high-volume of chances as they did in 2023-24, while Alassana Jatta has shown signs of stepping up to Macaulay Langstaff’s goalscoring mantle.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps surprising that Stuart Maynard’s side are priced as slight outsiders for their trip to Gresty Road, and could be a good bet via the draw no bet option, which will refund our stake if the game finishes honours even.
