Epsom Tips: Two Horse Racing Bets for Thursday + £50 Betfred Offer

Epsom, the home of the English Derby and Oaks, holds a meeting this evening, and while it may not be the huge quality we are used to seeing at the course, it’s a nice card and there is plenty of runners.
We’ve got two Epsom tips for the evening, and they both come as part of Alan Kelly’s tips for the day, one of our resident horse racing experts here at Freebets.

Epsom Tips
Alan has two runners for us tonight, firstly in the 7:35pm, where he has a pick in the Ladies Derby this evening.
30 minutes later, we have the second of our Epsom tips, and this is a runner at bigger odds, which is recommended as a each way play for those having a bet with betting sites.
7:35pm Epsom
This Betfred Ladies’ Derby Handicap (For Female Amateur Jockeys) has attracted a field of 11 runners, including recent winners Sameem and Martin Spirit, the latter victorious over tonight’s course and distance earlier in the month, while Tim Easterby’s northern raider won a similar race to this at Ripon last month with today’s rider Mrs Emily Roberts in the saddle.
However, my two against the field for this 1m 4f contest are the Ben Brookhouse-trained Gordon Grey and NAASMA from the Pat Phelan stable, with a slight preference for the latter, the mount of talented amateur Miss Becky Smith.
The Churchill mare has a couple of narrow defeats to her name on this course, the most recent when beaten half a length by Gary Moore’s Night Eagle at this meeting 12 months ago. The five-year-old has run well on all three starts this season, beginning with a victory on good to soft ground at Windsor back in April.
Runner-up at Newbury on her next start, Naasma, despite finishing only fifth, was beaten just over a length at Windsor on her most recent outing last month. The Ben Brookhouse stable is in good form at the moment and his Gordon Grey looks the main danger to the selection following some excellent efforts this year, including when finishing runner-up on four occasions, a placing the grey son of Australia may have to settle for once again.
8:05pm Epsom
Recent winners Miss Information and Guiteau head the betting for this 7f handicap at opening shows of 15/8 and 3/1 respectively. While both horses hold strong claims, I think the race is more open than that and prefer to side with MARLAY PARK (Each-Way), one of two runners for trainer Jim Boyle, the other being Hodler.
With jockey Pat Cosgrave on board, Marlay Park looks to be the stable’s first string, as the Cable Bay gelding has run many of his best races at the home of the Derby.
This will be the 17th visit to the course for the six-year-old who has finished out of the first four only twice. Of his four victories on the course, the most recent came last September off a mark of 79, 1lb higher than the each-way selection runs off here.
An excellent fourth at Epsom’s Derby meeting, Marlay Park was too keen when three lengths behind fellow rival Little Boy Blue over course and distance earlier in the month.
On 4lb better terms and on ground that will suit, I expect another big run from this Epsom specialist.
