Qualifying for the men’s 5000m final was one of the most dramatic events of the week at the Paris Olympics, but George Mills will line-up in the final after being reinstated.
The Great Britain runner was part of a dramatic collision as the runners bunched up on the final straight before an angry confrontation with French counterpart Hugo Hay on the finish line, but he will line up in Saturday’s final after being granted a second chance.
Back-to-back world champion Jakob Ingebrigsten - rival of Josh Kerr in the 1500m - goes into the race as favourite with UK betting sites for the race on Saturday night.

George Mills Medal Chances
Mills was fortunate to qualify for the final on Saturday, even despite his collision with Hugo Hay which brought about his reinstation to the race.
While Mills was likely to qualify, he was well in the pack when he fell and unlikely to push much further forward - though he did claim he had a good finish to come.
The 25-year-old doesn’t have a huge amount of medal experience to fall back on, though he did win silver in the 5000m at the European Championships in Rome earlier this year so if he produces a personal best he could spring a surprise, but there are stronger athletes ahead of him.
At the top of the field will be Ingebrigsten, who will be desperate to claim gold after coming up so short in the 1500m.
While he was an Olympic gold medallist in that event, he was back-to-back world champion over 5000m in 2022 and 2023 and cruised through qualifying with plenty left in the tank. It is hard to see anything but a gold for Norway here.
