Harrogate v Bradford Match Preview
After an unconvincing summer transfer window, Harrogate Town look set for a difficult season, off the back of their highest ever finish last year.
The signing of centre-back Jasper Moon might have made Simon Weaver’s side defensively sturdier, as they proved in a 2-0 victory over promotion hopefuls Doncaster in front of the cameras, but there’s question marks in other areas.
They played some decent football in the first half of their 1-0 loss at Cheltenham, when they weren’t put under much pressure, but the minute they were the build-up play stopped: they don’t have a number six who can accept the ball facing their own goal in tight areas.
Conversely, they don’t have a centre-forward that can be relied upon to neither spearhead attacks successfully, nor convert chances.
Bradford, on the other hand, boast the quality of Andy Cook, who can do both to a very high standard at this level, with City’s talisman up to three goals for the season.
The Bantams also possess one of League Two’s most consistent right-backs in Brad Halliday, while Richie Smallwood is starting to show his class in midfield – he should do so again at Wetherby Road.
