Luke Littler a class above as Premier League Darts reaches half-way

Updated: March 31, 2025 at 5:08 pm GMT+1

Luke Littler won his fourth successive night of Premier League Darts next week as he continues his stunning run of form in 2025.

Predictably, he's favourite to win the Premier League and World Championships with most online betting sites, but where will it stop for one of the most exciting talents in the world of sport?

Our darts expert Lewis Watson has seen plenty of Littler over his short career, and he has had a look at what the current dominance means.

A class above?

Form and momentum tends to be a prevailing factor in darts.

It's very common to see a player enter a purple patch in their career and pick up a handful of trophies before sliding back into the pack, ready for another player to take the reins.

Gary Anderson and Adrian Lewis's back-to-back crowns were never followed by a third. Peter's Wright's two wins in three years preceded a major fall off in form. Gerwyn Price hasn't won a major ranking title since his World Championship success in 2021 and Michael Smith has tumbled down to 17th in the world rankings after rampaging to his world title in 2023.

Of course, there are anomalies.

Phil Taylor and Michael van Gerwen proved exceptions to the rule time and time again as they enjoyed years of relentless dominance. Now, teenage sensation Luke Littler looks like he is going to join these two darts legends in an unstoppable period of success.

This point was underlined last Thursday at the Premier League in Newcastle by a mind-blowing marker of dominance. Littler blasted his way past Stephen Bunting, Rob Cross and Luke Humphries dropping just four legs and racing to the top of the standings with an eight-point cushion. But it was his maximum hitting that really emphasised his ascendancy.

Littler reached 100 maximums for the tournament in the final against Humphries, reaching this remarkable feat before any other player had notched up their half-century.

This power-scoring, coupled with laser-eye checkouts and three-figure averages means Littler will start as the betting favourite against whoever he comes across in any tournament for the foreseeable, and it's becoming harder and harder to bet against the 19-year-old.

Littler is the reigning World champion, UK Open champion, Grand Slam of Darts champion, World Series Finals champion and Premier League champion, with the impending Premier League playoffs in May signalling the first chance he has to successfully defend a major ranking title. He is currently an 8/11 FAV with to do so - odds which you can get with our bet365 sign-up offer.

Phil Taylor's dominance in the 90s and 00s was slightly inflated by the lack of competition that the "Power" faced, and although it's highly unlikely that Littler gets close to the 14 World Championships that Taylor won, it's possible that within 10 years Littler can secure his place as the greatest talent to pick up a dart.

All the signs are there. The PDC roster has never been as strong or competitive as it is today and Littler continues to blow every opponent out of the water when it matters most.

It's an ominous sign for the rest of the field, but Littler's future and darting status rests in his own right hand.
