Manchester United Plot January Move For Premier League Playmaker

After falling short of neighbours Manchester City early on in the race for the Premier League title this season, Manchester United are reportedly preparing for further transfer business.

The Red Devils were beaten 2-1 in a recent Manchester derby clash at Old Trafford by Pep Guardiola’s free-flowing Sky Blues, seeing them fall off the pace in the league standings.

Jose Mourinho Man unted

Man City are flying high and look more than capable of going all the way this current campaign, with the likes of David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne producing magical moments for the club.

It seems now that Jose Mourinho could be forced into delving into the market once again in the coming months in order to help catch their rivals, with one rival playmaker top of his list of targets.

Arsenal’s assist-king Mesut Ozil has long been linked with swapping the Emirates for Old Trafford and it looks like Man Utd will soon pounce for his signature.

Arsene Wenger recently stated that Arsenal are still trying to negotiate a new contract with the Germany international, whose current deal expires next summer.

But the Gunners could be set to lose their star creator to bitter rivals United, with Ozil believed to be keen on a reunion with former Real Madrid boss Mourinho.

The 29-year-old midfielder worked well together at the Bernabeu in the past and Man Utd are in need of a new attacking spark to boost their pursuit of silverware success this term.

Could the pair soon be reunited in Manchester? It’s a sight that Gunners supporters dread to think about, having previously lost former star striker Robin van Persie to their rivals.

Barcelona are also in the race to capture Ozil but reports suggest the German would prefer to remain in the English top-flight with United rather than arriving at the Nou Camp.
