Millwall v Leeds Match Preview
In Millwall’s last seven league hostings of Leeds, they’ve won five and drawn one – albeit losing 3-0 to the Whites last season.
Ordinarily, we wouldn’t pay too much attention to head-to-head records, but in this instance there’s an implication that the Lions seem to relish those fixtures, given the non-geographical antipathy between the two fanbases.
The Den is always a difficult place to visit, perhaps especially when the South Bermondsey have a manager like Neil Harris who the fans are easily on board with.
Millwall can sometimes be more effective when taking on the role of underdog, and when the visiting enemy are not only loathed, but easily one of the top two teams in the Championship, it’s like a red rag to a bull – everyone will pull together to ensure they don’t leave with three points, almost as much as trying to get a result for their own team.
Daniel Farke’s side were outstanding in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle, and have been for much of the season, but facing a passive, low-block 6-3-1 outfit who made no effort to engage from the front, is very different to going to the Den to face, an aggressive, high-octane opposition display.
