Wessel Nijman to Throw 5+ 180s & Have 2+ 100+ Checkouts vs Cameron Carolissen
Wessel Nijman is being tipped by almost everyone to become one of the next stars of the sport.
The 24-year-old Dutchman has enjoyed a breakout back-end of 2024, and will be looking to cap that off with a deep run in the World Championship at his second outing.
Nijman lost 3-1 to Steve Beaton at this stage last year, but with plenty of TV tournament experience under his belt now, the fearless youngster is expected to put on a show.
Cameron Carolissen played here back in 2021 losing 3-1 to Danny Noppert, but hasn’t kicked on in the sport, still unranked.
Nijman to put on a clinic including five or more 180s and two or more 100+ checkouts.
Stephen Bunting 3-0 Kai Gotthardt
The big German Kai Gotthardt got past Alan Soutar on Monday in a very low scoring affair.
Gotthardt averaged 89 in this 3-1 victory, and will have to push this closer to three figures if he’s to navigate a route past Stephen Bunting.
Bunting is a consistent performer on TV and coming to London as the eighth seed will fancy his chances of a deep run.
We can’t envisage the “Bullet” having too many problems here, as he sweeps Gotthardt aside 3-0.
Michael van Gerwen vs James Hurrell – 2+ Bull Finishes in the Match
MVG hasn’t been able to call himself world champion since 2019 and “Mighty Mike” is winning fewer and fewer titles these days.
But outside the Lukes, every player on the PDC Tour would settle for van Gerwen’s record this season, still reaching two major finals and keeping hold of his number three spot in the world.
He hasn’t failed to reach the third round here since 2011 and Hurrell shouldn’t case him too many problems in a lengthy-ish race to three sets.
MVG loves finishing on the bull, and two or more in the match look to be priced well.
