Punchestown Festival Tips: Two Selections for Saturday, May 4
We’ve got the final day of action at Punchestown covered with our free tips
After four stunning days of action, Saturday sees the finale of the 2024 Punchestown Festival with a competitive eight-race card, including two Grade 1 contests, bringing down the curtain.
Our tipping duo, Charlie McCann and Ed Quigley, have free Punchestown tips on-site, including a huge 25/1 selection.
Charlie McCann - 3:05pm Punchestown - Your Own Story (Each-Way)
I would not want too much rain for YOUR OWN STORY (Each-Way) in the 4m handicap Chase at Punchestown and this is something of an overthought for the selection who was entered for both the Scottish National and Bet365 Gold Cup but did not get a run in either.
There are no prices available at the time of writing, but he is likely to be a double-figure price – Racing Post tissue 12/1 – and I am convinced he is well handicapped from a mark of 125 for Lucinda Russell.
Klarc Kent looks a worthy favourite having finished fourth in the Scottish National last time and he can race from a 2lbs lower mark this afternoon.
Ed Quigley - 4:15pm Punchestown - Minella Crooner (Each-Way)
The wheels have come off for MINELLA CROONER in recent times, but he can be chanced at a price to get back to winning ways returning to Punchestown.
Recent form figures don’t inspire, but he has two wins at the track - including over course and distance, so this eight-year-old, who blows hot and cold, could easily bounce back at a venue we know he enjoys.
Eased to a mark of 142, he is starting to look dangerously well-handicapped as a winner of a Listed Chase earlier in the season.
If rains arrive, that will only enhance his claims, and I wouldn’t rule out a revival of this talented sort. Sam Ewing is in the saddle for the Gordon Elliott team, and they get the nod from me as the value play in this wide-open encounter.
